Psalm 5
HCSB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleNew Living Translation
For the choir director: with the flutes. A Davidic psalm. Listen to my words, LORD; consider my sighing. 1O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning.
Pay attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to You. 2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you.
At daybreak, LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I plead my case to You and watch expectantly. 3Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with You. 4O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all evildoers. 5Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.
You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors a man of bloodshed and treachery. 6You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers.
But I enter Your house by the abundance of Your faithful love; I bow down toward Your holy temple in reverential awe of You. 7Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my adversaries; make Your way straight before me. 8Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow.
For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues. 9My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery.
Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against You. 10O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May You shelter them, and may those who love Your name boast about You. 11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
For You, LORD, bless the righteous one; You surround him with favor like a shield. 12For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.
