Psalm 45
ISV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionEnglish Standard Version
My heart is overflowing with good news; I speak what I have composed to the king; my tongue is like the pen of an articulate scribe.1My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.
You are the most handsome of Adam's descendants; grace has anointed your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.2You are the most handsome of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.
Strap your sword to your side, mighty warrior, along with your honor and majesty.3Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and majesty!
In your majesty ride forth for the cause of truth, humility, and righteousness; and your strong right hand will teach you awesome things.4In your majesty ride out victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let your right hand teach you awesome deeds!
Your arrows are sharpened to penetrate the hearts of the king's enemies. People will fall under you.5Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; the peoples fall under you.
Your throne, God, exists forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a righteous scepter.6Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;
You love justice and hate wickedness. That is why God, even your God, has anointed you rather than your companions with the oil of gladness.7you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;
All your clothes are scented with myrrh, aloes, and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.8your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad;
The king's daughters are among your honorable women; the queen, dressed in gold from Ophir, has taken her place at your right hand."9daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.
Listen, daughter! Consider and pay attention. Forget your people and your father's house,10Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father’s house,
and the king will greatly desire your beauty. Because he is your lord, you should bow in respect before him.11and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him.
The daughter of Tyre will come with a wedding gift; wealthy people will entreat your favor.12The people of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts, the richest of the people.
In her chamber, the king's daughter is glorious; her clothing is embroidered with gold thread.13All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold.
In embroidered garments she is presented to the king. Her virgin companions who follow her train will be presented to you.14In many-colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions following behind her.
Filled with joy and gladness, they are presented when they enter the king's palace.15With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king.
Your sons will take the place of your ancestors, and you will set them up as princes in all the earth.16In place of your fathers shall be your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth.
From generation to generation, I will cause your name to be remembered. Therefore people will thank you forever and ever.17I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.
