1Jesus told his disciples, "It is inevitable that temptations to sin will come, but how terrible it will be for the person through whom they come! 1Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.2It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
3"Watch yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. 3Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4Even if he sins against you seven times in a day and comes back to you seven times and says, 'I repent,' you must forgive him."4And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5Then the apostles told the Lord, "Give us more faith!"5And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you!6And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
7"Suppose a man among you has a servant plowing or watching sheep. Would he say to him when he comes in from the field, 'Come at once and have something to eat'? 7But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
8Of course not. Instead, he would say to him, 'Get dinner ready for me, and put on your apron and wait on me until I eat and drink. Then you can eat and drink.' 8And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9He doesn't praise the servant for doing what was commanded, does he? 9Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
10That's the way it is with you. When you have done everything you were ordered to do, say, 'We are worthless servants. We have done only what we ought to have done.'"10So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
11One day, Jesus was traveling along the border between Samaria and Galilee on the way to Jerusalem. 11And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12As he was going into a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance 12And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13and shouted, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"13And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14When Jesus saw them, he told them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." While they were going, they were made clean. 14And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15But one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, came back and praised God with a loud voice. 15And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16He fell on his face at Jesus' feet and thanked him. Now that man was a Samaritan.16And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17Jesus asked, "Ten men were made clean, weren't they? Where are the other nine? 17And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18Except for this foreigner, were any of them found to return and give praise to God?" 18There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19Then he told the man, "Get up, and go home! Your faith has made you well."19And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
20Once Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come. He answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming with a visible display. 20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21People won't be saying, 'Look! Here it is!' or 'There it is!' because now the kingdom of God is among you."21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
22Then Jesus told the disciples, "The time will come during which you will long to see one of these days when the Son of Man is with you, but you will not see it. 22And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.
23People will say to you, 'Look! There he is!' or 'Look! Here he is!' But don't go and chase after him. 23And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.
24Because just as lightning flashes and shines from one end of the sky to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his time.24For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.
25But first he must suffer a great deal and be rejected by those living today. 25But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.
26"Just as it was in Noah's time, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man. 26And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27People were eating, drinking, marrying, and being given in marriage right up to the day when Noah went into the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed all of them. 27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28So it was in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29But on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed all of them. 29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30The day when the Son of Man is revealed will be like that.30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31"The person who is on the housetop that day must not come down to get his belongings out of his house. The person in the field, too, must not turn back to what's left behind. 31In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32Remember Lot's wife! 32Remember Lot's wife.
33Whoever tries to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it. 33Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
34I tell you, two will be seated on the same couch that night. The one will be taken, and the other will be left behind. 34I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35Two women will be grinding grain together. The one will be taken, and the other will be left behind." 35Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
3636Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
37Then they asked him, "Where, Lord, will this take place?" He told them, "Wherever there's a corpse, there the vultures will gather."37And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
