Shout praise to God all the earth!1For the music director; a song, a psalm. Shout out praise to God, all the earth!
Sing praise about the glory of his name. Make his praise glorious.2Sing praises about the majesty of his reputation! Give him the honor he deserves!
Say to God: "How awesome are your works! Because of your great strength your enemies cringe before you."3Say to God: "How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power your enemies cower in fear before you.
The whole earth worships you. They sing praise to you. They sing praise to your name. Interlude4All the earth worships you and sings praises to you! They sing praises to your name!" (Selah)
Come and see the awesome works of God on behalf of human beings:5Come and witness God's exploits! His acts on behalf of people are awesome!
He turned the sea into dry land. Israel crossed the river on foot; let us rejoice in him.6He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. Let us rejoice in him there!
He rules by his power forever, his eyes watching over the nations. Do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Interlude7He rules by his power forever; he watches the nations. Stubborn rebels should not exalt themselves. (Selah)
Bless our God, people, and let the sound of his praise be heard.8Praise our God, you nations! Loudly proclaim his praise!
He gives us life and does not permit our feet to slip.9He preserves our lives and does not allow our feet to slip.
For you, God, tested us, to purify us like fine silver.10For you, O God, tested us; you purified us like refined silver.
You have led us into a trap and set burdens on our backs.11You led us into a trap; you caused us to suffer.
You caused men to ride over us. You brought us through fire and water, but you led us to abundance.12You allowed men to ride over our heads; we passed through fire and water, but you brought us out into a wide open place.
I will come to your house with burnt offerings. I will fulfill my vows to you13I will enter your temple with burnt sacrifices; I will fulfill the vows I made to you,
that my lips uttered and that my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.14which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.
I will offer to you burnt offerings of fat, along with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams. I will offer bulls along with goats. Interlude15I will offer up to you fattened animals as burnt sacrifices, along with the smell of sacrificial rams. I will offer cattle and goats. (Selah)
Come and listen, all of you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me.16Come! Listen, all you who are loyal to God! I will declare what he has done for me.
I called aloud to him and praised him with my tongue.17I cried out to him for help and praised him with my tongue.
Were I to cherish iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not listen to me.18If I had harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
Surely God has heard, and he paid attention to my prayers.19However, God heard; he listened to my prayer.
Blessed be God, who did not turn away my prayers nor his gracious love from me.20God deserves praise, for he did not reject my prayer or abandon his love for me!
