ISV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew International Version
Bless the LORD, my soul; LORD, my God, you are very great. You are clothed in splendor and majesty;1Praise the LORD, my soul. LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
you are wrapped in light like a garment, stretching out the sky like a curtain.2The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent
He lays the beams of his roof loft on the water above, making clouds his chariot, walking on the wings of the wind.3and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes the winds his messengers, blazing fires his servants.4He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
He established the earth on its foundations, so that it never falters.5He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.
You covered the primeval ocean like a garment; the water stood above the mountains.6You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
They flee at your rebuke; they rush away at the sound of your thunders.7But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;
Mountains rise up and valleys sink to the place you have ordained for them.8they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them.
You have set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never again cover the earth.9You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.
He causes springs to gush forth into rivers that flow between the mountains.10He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains.
They give water for animals of the field to drink; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.11They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
Birds of the sky live beside them and chirp a song among the foliage.12The birds of the sky nest by the waters; they sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from his heavenly rooms; the earth is satisfied from the fruit of your work.13He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.
He causes grass to sprout for the cattle and plants for people to cultivate, to produce food from the land,14He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate-- bringing forth food from the earth:
like wine that makes the heart of people happy, oil that makes the face glow, and food that sustains people. 15wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts.
The loftiest trees are satisfied, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted,16The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
the birds build their nests there, and the heron builds its nest among the evergreen.17There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the junipers.
The high mountains are for wild goats; the cliffs are a refuge for the rock badger.18The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the hyrax.
He made the moon to mark time; the sun knows its setting time.19He made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down.
You bring darkness and it becomes night; when every beast of the forest prowls.20You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl.
Young lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God.21The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
When the sun rises, they gather and lie down in their dens.22The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.
People go out to their work and labor until evening.23Then people go out to their work, to their labor until evening.
How numerous are your works, LORD! You have made them all wisely; the earth is filled with your creations. 24How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
There is the deep and wide sea, teeming with numberless creatures, living things small and great.25There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small.
There, the ships pass through; Leviathan, which you created, frolics in it.26There the ships go to and fro, and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.
All of them look to you to provide them their food at the proper time.27All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time.
They receive what you give them; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.28When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
When you withdraw your favor, they are disappointed; Take away their breath, and they die and return to dust.29When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust.
When you send your spirit, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the earth.30When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.
May the glory of the LORD last forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works!31May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works--
He looks at the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they smoke.32he who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD with my whole being; I will sing to my God continually!33I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
May my thoughts be pleasing to him; indeed, I will rejoice in the LORD!34May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD.
May sinners disappear from the land and the wicked live no longer. Bless the LORD, my soul! Hallelujah!35But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, my soul. Praise the LORD.
