Psalm 2
KJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleInternational Standard Version
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?1Why are the nations in an uproar, and their people involved in a vain plot?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,2As the kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and his anointed one, they say,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.3"Let us tear off their shackles from us, and cast off their chains."
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.4He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.5In his anger he rebukes them, and in his wrath he terrifies them:
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.6"I have set my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.7Let me announce the decree of the LORD that he told me: "You are my son, today I have become your father.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.8Ask of me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your possession.
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.9You will break them with an iron rod, you will shatter them like pottery."
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.10Therefore, kings, act wisely! Earthly rulers, be warned!
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.12Kiss the son before he becomes angry, and you die where you stand. Indeed, his wrath can flare up quickly. How blessed are those who take refuge in him.
