Psalm 2
KJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?1Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,2The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.3"Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.4He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.5Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.6"But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.7"I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.8Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.9'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.10Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.11Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.12Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
