Chronicles 16
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.1They brought the Ark of God and placed it inside the special tent David had prepared for it. And they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings to God.
And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.2When he had finished his sacrifices, David blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.3Then he gave to every man and woman in all Israel a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins.
And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:4David appointed the following Levites to lead the people in worship before the Ark of the LORD—to invoke his blessings, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.
Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;5Asaph, the leader of this group, sounded the cymbals. Second to him was Zechariah, followed by Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They played the harps and lyres.
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.6The priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, played the trumpets regularly before the Ark of God’s Covenant. David’s Song of Praise
Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.7On that day David gave to Asaph and his fellow Levites this song of thanksgiving to the LORD:
Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.8Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.9Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.10Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the LORD.
Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.11Search for the LORD and for his strength; continually seek him.
Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;12Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given,
O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.13you children of his servant Israel, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.14He is the LORD our God. His justice is seen throughout the land.
Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;15Remember his covenant forever— the commitment he made to a thousand generations.
Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;16This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.
And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,17He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant:
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;18“I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession.”
When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.19He said this when you were few in number, a tiny group of strangers in Canaan.
And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;20They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,21Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf:
Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.22“Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets.”
Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.23Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.24Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.25Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.26The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the LORD made the heavens!
Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.27Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling.
Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.28O nations of the world, recognize the LORD, recognize that the LORD is glorious and strong.
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.29Give to the LORD the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the LORD in all his holy splendor.
Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.30Let all the earth tremble before him. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.31Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Tell all the nations, “The LORD reigns!”
Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.32Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy!
Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.33Let the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth.
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.34Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.35Cry out, “Save us, O God of our salvation! Gather and rescue us from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you.”
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.36Praise the LORD, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting! And all the people shouted “Amen!” and praised the LORD. Worship at Jerusalem and Gibeon
So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:37David arranged for Asaph and his fellow Levites to serve regularly before the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant, doing whatever needed to be done each day.
And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:38This group included Obed-edom (son of Jeduthun), Hosah, and sixty-eight other Levites as gatekeepers.
And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,39Meanwhile, David stationed Zadok the priest and his fellow priests at the Tabernacle of the LORD at the place of worship in Gibeon, where they continued to minister before the LORD.
To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;40They sacrificed the regular burnt offerings to the LORD each morning and evening on the altar set aside for that purpose, obeying everything written in the Law of the LORD, as he had commanded Israel.
And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever;41David also appointed Heman, Jeduthun, and the others chosen by name to give thanks to the LORD, for “his faithful love endures forever.”
And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.42They used their trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments to accompany their songs of praise to God. And the sons of Jeduthun were appointed as gatekeepers.
And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.43Then all the people returned to their homes, and David turned and went home to bless his own family.
