New American Standard Bible 1995Christian Standard Bible
"Now this is what you shall do to them to consecrate them to minister as priests to Me: take one young bull and two rams without blemish,1"This is what you are to do for them to consecrate them to serve me as priests. Take a young bull and two unblemished rams,
and unleavened bread and unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil; you shall make them of fine wheat flour.2with unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers coated with oil. Make them out of fine wheat flour,
"You shall put them in one basket, and present them in the basket along with the bull and the two rams.3put them in a basket, and bring them in the basket, along with the bull and two rams.
"Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.4Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
"You shall take the garments, and put on Aaron the tunic and the robe of the ephod and the ephod and the breastpiece, and gird him with the skillfully woven band of the ephod;5Then take the garments and clothe Aaron with the tunic, the robe for the ephod, the ephod itself, and the breastpiece; fasten the ephod on him with its woven waistband.
and you shall set the turban on his head and put the holy crown on the turban.6Put the turban on his head and place the holy diadem on the turban.
"Then you shall take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him.7Take the anointing oil, pour it on his head, and anoint him.
"You shall bring his sons and put tunics on them.8You must also bring his sons and clothe them with tunics.
"You shall gird them with sashes, Aaron and his sons, and bind caps on them, and they shall have the priesthood by a perpetual statute. So you shall ordain Aaron and his sons.9Tie the sashes on Aaron and his sons and fasten headbands on them. The priesthood is to be theirs by a permanent statute. This is the way you will ordain Aaron and his sons.
"Then you shall bring the bull before the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the bull.10"You are to bring the bull to the front of the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons must lay their hands on the bull's head.
"You shall slaughter the bull before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting.11Slaughter the bull before the LORD at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
"You shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger; and you shall pour out all the blood at the base of the altar.12Take some of the bull's blood and apply it to the horns of the altar with your finger; then pour out all the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
"You shall take all the fat that covers the entrails and the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, and offer them up in smoke on the altar.13Take all the fat that covers the entrails, the fatty lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys with the fat on them, and burn them on the altar.
"But the flesh of the bull and its hide and its refuse, you shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.14But burn the bull's flesh, its hide, and its waste outside the camp; it is a sin offering.
"You shall also take the one ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram;15"Take one ram, and Aaron and his sons are to lay their hands on the ram's head.
and you shall slaughter the ram and shall take its blood and sprinkle it around on the altar.16You are to slaughter the ram, take its blood, and splatter it on all sides of the altar.
"Then you shall cut the ram into its pieces, and wash its entrails and its legs, and put them with its pieces and its head.17Cut the ram into pieces. Wash its entrails and legs, and place them with its head and its pieces on the altar.
"You shall offer up in smoke the whole ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD: it is a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.18Then burn the whole ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD. It is a pleasing aroma, a fire offering to the LORD.
"Then you shall take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram.19"You are to take the second ram, and Aaron and his sons must lay their hands on the ram's head.
"You shall slaughter the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear and on the lobes of his sons' right ears and on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet, and sprinkle the rest of the blood around on the altar.20Slaughter the ram, take some of its blood, and put it on Aaron's right earlobe, on his sons' right earlobes, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Splatter the remaining blood on all sides of the altar.
"Then you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments and on his sons and on his sons' garments with him; so he and his garments shall be consecrated, as well as his sons and his sons' garments with him.21Take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle them on Aaron and his garments, as well as on his sons and their garments. So he and his garments will be holy, as well as his sons and their garments.
"You shall also take the fat from the ram and the fat tail, and the fat that covers the entrails and the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them and the right thigh (for it is a ram of ordination),22"Take the fat from the ram, the fat tail, the fat covering the entrails, the fatty lobe of the liver, the two kidneys and the fat on them, and the right thigh (since this is a ram for ordination);
and one cake of bread and one cake of bread mixed with oil and one wafer from the basket of unleavened bread which is set before the LORD;23take one loaf of bread, one cake of bread made with oil, and one wafer from the basket of unleavened bread that is before the LORD;
and you shall put all these in the hands of Aaron and in the hands of his sons, and shall wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.24and put all of them in the hands of Aaron and his sons and present them as a presentation offering before the LORD.
"You shall take them from their hands, and offer them up in smoke on the altar on the burnt offering for a soothing aroma before the LORD; it is an offering by fire to the LORD.25Take them from their hands and burn them on the altar on top of the burnt offering, as a pleasing aroma before the LORD; it is a fire offering to the LORD.
"Then you shall take the breast of Aaron's ram of ordination, and wave it as a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be your portion.26"Take the breast from the ram of Aaron's ordination and present it as a presentation offering before the LORD; it is to be your portion.
"You shall consecrate the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the heave offering which was waved and which was offered from the ram of ordination, from the one which was for Aaron and from the one which was for his sons.27Consecrate for Aaron and his sons the breast of the presentation offering that is presented and the thigh of the contribution that is lifted up from the ram of ordination.
"It shall be for Aaron and his sons as their portion forever from the sons of Israel, for it is a heave offering; and it shall be a heave offering from the sons of Israel from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, even their heave offering to the LORD.28This will belong to Aaron and his sons as a regular portion from the Israelites, for it is a contribution. It will be the Israelites' contribution from their fellowship sacrifices, their contribution to the LORD.
"The holy garments of Aaron shall be for his sons after him, that in them they may be anointed and ordained.29"The holy garments that belong to Aaron are to belong to his sons after him, so that they can be anointed and ordained in them.
"For seven days the one of his sons who is priest in his stead shall put them on when he enters the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.30Any priest who is one of his sons and who succeeds him and enters the tent of meeting to minister in the sanctuary must wear them for seven days.
"You shall take the ram of ordination and boil its flesh in a holy place.31"You are to take the ram of ordination and boil its flesh in a holy place.
"Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread that is in the basket, at the doorway of the tent of meeting.32Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the bread that is in the basket at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
"Thus they shall eat those things by which atonement was made at their ordination and consecration; but a layman shall not eat them, because they are holy.33They must eat those things by which atonement was made at the time of their ordination and consecration. An unauthorized person must not eat them, for these things are holy.
"If any of the flesh of ordination or any of the bread remains until morning, then you shall burn the remainder with fire; it shall not be eaten, because it is holy.34If any of the meat of ordination or any of the bread is left until morning, burn what is left over. It must not be eaten because it is holy.
"Thus you shall do to Aaron and to his sons, according to all that I have commanded you; you shall ordain them through seven days.35"This is what you are to do for Aaron and his sons based on all I have commanded you. Take seven days to ordain them.
"Each day you shall offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement, and you shall purify the altar when you make atonement for it, and you shall anoint it to consecrate it.36Sacrifice a bull as a sin offering each day for atonement. Purify the altar when you make atonement for it, and anoint it in order to consecrate it.
"For seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and consecrate it; then the altar shall be most holy, and whatever touches the altar shall be holy.37For seven days you must make atonement for the altar and consecrate it. The altar will be especially holy. Whatever touches the altar will be consecrated.
"Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two one year old lambs each day, continuously.38"This is what you are to offer regularly on the altar every day: two year-old lambs.
"The one lamb you shall offer in the morning and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight;39In the morning offer one lamb, and at twilight offer the other lamb.
and there shall be one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of beaten oil, and one-fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering with one lamb.40With the first lamb offer two quarts of fine flour mixed with one quart of oil from crushed olives, and a drink offering of one quart of wine.
"The other lamb you shall offer at twilight, and shall offer with it the same grain offering and the same drink offering as in the morning, for a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.41You are to offer the second lamb at twilight. Offer a grain offering and a drink offering with it, like the one in the morning, as a pleasing aroma, a fire offering to the LORD.
"It shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the doorway of the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet with you, to speak to you there.42This will be a regular burnt offering throughout your generations at the entrance to the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you to speak with you.
"I will meet there with the sons of Israel, and it shall be consecrated by My glory.43I will also meet with the Israelites there, and that place will be consecrated by my glory.
"I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister as priests to Me.44I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests.
"I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God.45I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.
"They shall know that I am the LORD their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the LORD their God.46And they will know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, so that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.
