It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father's wife.1It is widely reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and the kind of sexual immorality that is not even tolerated among the Gentiles--a man is living with his father's wife.
You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst.2And you are inflated with pride, instead of filled with grief so that he who has committed this act might be removed from your congregation.
For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present.3For though I am absent in body but present in spirit, I have already decided about the one who has done this thing as though I were present.
In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,4When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus with my spirit and with the power of our Lord Jesus,
I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.5turn that one over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the Day of the Lord.
Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?6Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast permeates the whole batch of dough?
Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.7Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch. You are indeed unleavened, for Christ our Passover has been sacrificed.
Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.8Therefore, let us observe the feast, not with old yeast or with the yeast of malice and evil but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;9I wrote to you in a letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.
I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.10I did not mean the immoral people of this world or the greedy and swindlers or idolaters; otherwise you would have to leave the world.
But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-- not even to eat with such a one.11But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer who is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.
For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church?12For what business is it of mine to judge outsiders? Don't you judge those who are inside?
But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.13But God judges outsiders. Put away the evil person from among yourselves.
