Matthew 6
NASB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995International Standard Version
"Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.1"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people in order to be noticed by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
"So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.2So whenever you give to the poor, don't blow a trumpet before you like the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets so that they will be praised by people. I tell all of you with certainty, they have their full reward!
"But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,3But when you give to the poor, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.4so that your giving may be done in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.5"And whenever you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to stand in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they will be seen by people. I tell all of you with certainty, they have their full reward!
"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.6But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father who is hidden. And your Father who sees from the hidden place will reward you.
"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.7"When you are praying, don't say meaningless things like the unbelievers do, because they think they will be heard by being so wordy.
"So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.8Don't be like them, because your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
"Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.9Therefore, this is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.10May your kingdom come. May your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
'Give us this day our daily bread.11Give us today our daily bread,
'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.12and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.'13And never bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'
"For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.14Because if you forgive people their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
"But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.15But if you do not forgive people their offenses, your Father will not forgive your offenses."
"Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.16"Whenever you fast, don't be gloomy like the hypocrites, because they put on sad faces to show others they are fasting. I tell all of you with certainty, they have their full reward!
"But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face17But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,
so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.18so that your fasting will not be noticed by others but by your Father who is in the hidden place. And your Father who watches from the hidden place will reward you."
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.19"Stop storing up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;20But keep on storing up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal,
for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.21because where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
"The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.22"The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.
"But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!23But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light within you has turned into darkness, how great is that darkness!"
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.24"No one can serve two masters, because either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches!"
"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?25"That's why I'm telling you to stop worrying about your life—what you will eat or what you will drink —or about your body—what you will wear. Life is more than food, isn't it, and the body more than clothing?
"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?26Look at the birds in the sky. They don't plant or harvest or gather food into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. You are more valuable than they are, aren't you?
"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?27Can any of you add a single hour to the length of your life by worrying?
"And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,28And why do you worry about clothes? Consider the lilies in the field and how they grow. They don't work or spin yarn,
yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.29but I tell you that not even Solomon in all of his splendor was clothed like one of them.
"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!30Now if that is the way God clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and thrown into an oven tomorrow, won't he clothe you much better—you who have little faith?
"Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'31"So don't ever worry by saying, 'What are we going to eat?' or 'What are we going to drink?' or 'What are we going to wear?'
"For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.32because it is the unbelievers who are eager for all those things. Surely your heavenly Father knows that you need all of them!
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.33But first be concerned about God's kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these things will be provided for you as well.
"So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.34So never worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
