NASB Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
"You are the sons of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.1You are children of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave your forehead bald for the sake of the dead.
"For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.2For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. He has chosen you to be his people, prized above all others on the face of the earth.
"You shall not eat any detestable thing.3You must not eat any forbidden thing.
"These are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,4These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,
the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.5the ibex, the gazelle, the deer, the wild goat, the antelope, the wild oryx, and the mountain sheep.
"Any animal that divides the hoof and has the hoof split in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.6You may eat any animal that has hooves divided into two parts and that chews the cud.
"Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.7However, you may not eat the following animals among those that chew the cud or those that have divided hooves: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger. (Although they chew the cud, they do not have divided hooves and are therefore ritually impure to you).
"The pig, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses.8Also the pig is ritually impure to you; though it has divided hooves, it does not chew the cud. You may not eat their meat or even touch their remains.
"These you may eat of all that are in water: anything that has fins and scales you may eat,9These you may eat from among water creatures: anything with fins and scales you may eat,
but anything that does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.10but whatever does not have fins and scales you may not eat; it is ritually impure to you.
"You may eat any clean bird.11All ritually clean birds you may eat.
"But these are the ones which you shall not eat: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard,12These are the ones you may not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,
and the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds,13the kite, the black kite, the dayyah after its species,
and every raven in its kind,14every raven after its species,
and the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk in their kinds,15the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, the falcon after its species,
the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,16the little owl, the long-eared owl, the white owl,
the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,17the jackdaw, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,
the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat.18the stork, the heron after its species, the hoopoe, the bat,
"And all the teeming life with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.19and any winged thing on the ground are impure to you--they may not be eaten.
"You may eat any clean bird.20You may eat any clean bird.
"You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the alien who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to the LORD your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.21You may not eat any corpse, though you may give it to the resident foreigner who is living in your villages and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. You are a people holy to the LORD your God. Do not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.
"You shall surely tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes out of the field every year.22You must be certain to tithe all the produce of your seed that comes from the field year after year.
"You shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.23In the presence of the LORD your God you must eat from the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the place he chooses to locate his name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.
"If the distance is so great for you that you are not able to bring the tithe, since the place where the LORD your God chooses to set His name is too far away from you when the LORD your God blesses you,24When he blesses you, if the place where he chooses to locate his name is distant,
then you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses.25you may convert the tithe into money, secure the money, and travel to the place the LORD your God chooses for himself.
"You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household.26Then you may spend the money however you wish for cattle, sheep, wine, beer, or whatever you desire. You and your household may eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and enjoy it.
"Also you shall not neglect the Levite who is in your town, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.27As for the Levites in your villages, you must not ignore them, for they have no allotment or inheritance along with you.
"At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall deposit it in your town.28At the end of every three years you must bring all the tithe of your produce, in that very year, and you must store it up in your villages.
"The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the alien, the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.29Then the Levites (because they have no allotment or inheritance with you), the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows of your villages may come and eat their fill so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work you do.
