Psalm 80
New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
For the choir director; set to El Shoshannim; Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!1For the music director; according to the shushan-eduth style; a psalm of Asaph. O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor!
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!2In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal your power! Come and deliver us!
O God, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.3O God, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered!
O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people?4O LORD God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you?
You have fed them with the bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in large measure.5You have given them tears as food; you have made them drink tears by the measure.
You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.6You have made our neighbors dislike us, and our enemies insult us.
O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.7O God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered!
You removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out nations and transplanted it.
You cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.9You cleared the ground for it; it took root, and filled the land.
The mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its boughs.10The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches.
It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the River.11Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River.
Why have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?12Why did you break down its walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit?
A boar from the forest eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.13The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it.
O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,14O God, invincible warrior, come back! Look down from heaven and take notice! Take care of this vine,
Even the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.15the root your right hand planted, the shoot you made to grow!
It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.16It is burned and cut down. They die because you are displeased with them.
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.17May you give support to the one you have chosen, to the one whom you raised up for yourself!
Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.18Then we will not turn away from you. Revive us and we will pray to you!
O LORD God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.19O LORD God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered!
