Psalm 64
NET BibleBerean Study Bible
For the music director; a psalm of David. Listen to me, O God, as I offer my lament! Protect my life from the enemy's terrifying attacks. 1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Hear, O God, my voice of complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
Hide me from the plots of evil men, from the crowd of evildoers. 2Hide me from the scheming of the wicked, from the mob of workers of iniquity,
They sharpen their tongues like a sword; they aim their arrow, a slanderous charge, 3who sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows,
in order to shoot down the innocent in secluded places. They shoot at him suddenly and are unafraid of retaliation. 4ambushing the innocent in seclusion, shooting suddenly, without fear.
They encourage one another to carry out their evil deed. They plan how to hide snares, and boast, "Who will see them?" 5They hold fast to their evil purpose; they speak of hiding their snares. “Who will see them?” they say.
They devise unjust schemes; they disguise a well-conceived plot. Man's inner thoughts cannot be discovered. 6They devise injustice and say, “We have perfected a secret plan.” For the inner man and the heart are mysterious.
But God will shoot at them; suddenly they will be wounded by an arrow. 7But God will shoot them with arrows; suddenly they will be wounded.
Their slander will bring about their demise. All who see them will shudder, 8They will be made to stumble, their own tongues turned against them. All who see will shake their heads.
and all people will fear. They will proclaim what God has done, and reflect on his deeds. 9Then all mankind will fear and proclaim the work of God; so they will ponder what He has done.
The godly will rejoice in the LORD and take shelter in him. All the morally upright will boast. 10Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in Him; let all the upright in heart exult.
