A psalm; a song for the Sabbath day. It is fitting to thank the LORD, and to sing praises to your name, O sovereign One! 1A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High,
It is fitting to proclaim your loyal love in the morning, and your faithfulness during the night, 2to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night
to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument and a lyre, to the accompaniment of the meditative tone of the harp. 3with the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre.
For you, O LORD, have made me happy by your work. I will sing for joy because of what you have done. 4For You, O LORD, have made me glad by Your deeds; I sing for joy at the works of Your hands.
How great are your works, O LORD! Your plans are very intricate! 5How great are Your works, O LORD, how deep are Your thoughts!
The spiritually insensitive do not recognize this; the fool does not understand this. 6A senseless man does not know, and a fool does not understand,
When the wicked sprout up like grass, and all the evildoers glisten, it is so that they may be annihilated. 7that though the wicked sprout like grass, and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed.
But you, O LORD, reign forever! 8But You, O LORD, are exalted forever!
Indeed, look at your enemies, O LORD! Indeed, look at how your enemies perish! All the evildoers are scattered! 9For surely Your enemies, O LORD, surely Your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.
You exalt my horn like that of a wild ox. I am covered with fresh oil. 10But You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; with fine oil I have been anointed.
I gloat in triumph over those who tried to ambush me; I hear the defeated cries of the evil foes who attacked me. 11My eyes see the downfall of my enemies; my ears hear the wailing of my wicked foes.
The godly grow like a palm tree; they grow high like a cedar in Lebanon. 12The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Planted in the LORD's house, they grow in the courts of our God. 13Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They bear fruit even when they are old; they are filled with vitality and have many leaves. 14In old age they will still bear fruit; healthy and green they will remain,
So they proclaim that the LORD, my protector, is just and never unfair. 15to proclaim, “The LORD is upright; He is my Rock, and in Him there is no unrighteousness.”
