| 1With regard to spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. | 1Now concerning spiritual gifts: brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware. |
| 2You know that when you were pagans you were often led astray by speechless idols, however you were led. | 2You know that when you were pagans, you used to be enticed and led astray by mute idols. |
| 3So I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. | 3Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. |

| 8For one person is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, and another the message of knowledge according to the same Spirit, | 8to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, |
| 9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, | 9to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, |

| 15If the foot says, "Since I am not a hand, I am not part of the body," it does not lose its membership in the body because of that. | 15If the foot should say, "Because I'm not a hand, I don't belong to the body," it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. |

| 17If the whole body were an eye, what part would do the hearing? If the whole were an ear, what part would exercise the sense of smell? | 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? |
| 18But as a matter of fact, God has placed each of the members in the body just as he decided. | 18But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts in the body just as he wanted. |

| 25so that there may be no division in the body, but the members may have mutual concern for one another. | 25so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other. |

| 29Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all perform miracles, do they? | 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles? |
| 30Not all have gifts of healing, do they? Not all speak in tongues, do they? Not all interpret, do they? | 30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in other tongues? Do all interpret? |
| 31But you should be eager for the greater gifts. And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison. | 31But desire the greater gifts. And I will show you an even better way. |
