For the music director; according to the alumoth-labben style; a psalm of David. I will thank the LORD with all my heart! I will tell about all your amazing deeds! 1I will thank the LORD with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous works.
I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One! 2I will rejoice and boast about you; I will sing about your name, Most High.
When my enemies turn back, they trip and are defeated before you. 3When my enemies retreat, they stumble and perish before you.
For you defended my just cause; from your throne you pronounced a just decision. 4For you have upheld my just cause; you are seated on your throne as a righteous judge.
You terrified the nations with your battle cry; you destroyed the wicked; you permanently wiped out all memory of them. 5You have rebuked the nations: You have destroyed the wicked; you have erased their name forever and ever.
The enemy's cities have been reduced to permanent ruins; you destroyed their cities; all memory of the enemies has perished. 6The enemy has come to eternal ruin. You have uprooted the cities, and the very memory of them has perished.
But the LORD rules forever; he reigns in a just manner. 7But the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for judgment.
He judges the world fairly; he makes just legal decisions for the nations. 8And he judges the world with righteousness; he executes judgment on the nations with fairness.
Consequently the LORD provides safety for the oppressed; he provides safety in times of trouble. 9The LORD is a refuge for the persecuted, a refuge in times of trouble.
Your loyal followers trust in you, for you, LORD, do not abandon those who seek your help. 10Those who know your name trust in you because you have not abandoned those who seek you, LORD.
Sing praises to the LORD, who rules in Zion! Tell the nations what he has done! 11Sing to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; proclaim his deeds among the nations.
For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; he did not overlook their cry for help 12For the one who seeks an accounting for bloodshed remembers them; he does not forget the cry of the oppressed.
when they prayed: "Have mercy on me, LORD! See how I am oppressed by those who hate me, O one who can snatch me away from the gates of death! 13Be gracious to me, LORD; consider my affliction at the hands of those who hate me. Lift me up from the gates of death,
Then I will tell about all your praiseworthy acts; in the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice because of your deliverance." 14so that I may declare all your praises. I will rejoice in your salvation within the gates of Daughter Zion.
The nations fell into the pit they had made; their feet were caught in the net they had hidden. 15The nations have fallen into the pit they made; their foot is caught in the net they have concealed.
The LORD revealed himself; he accomplished justice; the wicked were ensnared by their own actions. (Higgaion. Selah) 16The LORD has made himself known; he has executed justice, snaring the wicked by the work of their hands. Higgaion. Selah
The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol; this is the destiny of all the nations that ignore God, 17The wicked will return to Sheol--all the nations that forget God.
for the needy are not permanently ignored, the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed. 18For the needy will not always be forgotten; the hope of the oppressed will not perish forever.
Rise up, LORD! Don't let men be defiant! May the nations be judged in your presence! 19Rise up, LORD! Do not let mere humans prevail; let the nations be judged in your presence.
Terrify them, LORD! Let the nations know they are mere mortals! (Selah) 20Put terror in them, LORD; let the nations know they are only humans. Selah
