| 2"Speak to the Israelites and tell them, 'When you enter the land where you are to live, which I am giving you, | 2“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving you, |
| 3and you make an offering by fire to the LORD from the herd or from the flock (whether a burnt offering or a sacrifice for discharging a vow or as a freewill offering or in your solemn feasts) to create a pleasing aroma to the LORD, | 3and you offer to the LORD from the herd or from the flock a food offering or a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or at your appointed feasts, to make a pleasing aroma to the LORD, |
| 4then the one who presents his offering to the LORD must bring a grain offering of one-tenth of an ephah of finely ground flour mixed with one fourth of a hin of olive oil. | 4then he who brings his offering shall offer to the LORD a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil; |
| 5You must also prepare one-fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering with the burnt offering or the sacrifice for each lamb. | 5and you shall offer with the burnt offering, or for the sacrifice, a quarter of a hin of wine for the drink offering for each lamb. |
| 6Or for a ram, you must prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah of finely ground flour mixed with one-third of a hin of olive oil, | 6Or for a ram, you shall offer for a grain offering two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil. |
| 7and for a drink offering you must offer one-third of a hin of wine as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. | 7And for the drink offering you shall offer a third of a hin of wine, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
| 8And when you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice for discharging a vow or as a peace offering to the LORD, | 8And when you offer a bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or for peace offerings to the LORD, |
| 9then a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of finely ground flour mixed with half a hin of olive oil must be presented with the young bull, | 9then one shall offer with the bull a grain offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with half a hin of oil. |
| 10and you must present as the drink offering half a hin of wine with the fire offering as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. | 10And you shall offer for the drink offering half a hin of wine, as a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
| 11This is what is to be done for each ox, or each ram, or each of the male lambs or the goats. | 11“Thus it shall be done for each bull or ram, or for each lamb or young goat. |
| 12You must do so for each one according to the number that you prepare. | 12As many as you offer, so shall you do with each one, as many as there are. |
| 13"'Every native-born person must do these things in this way to present an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. | 13Every native Israelite shall do these things in this way, in offering a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
| 14If a resident foreigner is living with you--or whoever is among you in future generations--and prepares an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD, he must do it the same way you are to do it. | 14And if a stranger is sojourning with you, or anyone is living permanently among you, and he wishes to offer a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD, he shall do as you do. |
| 15One statute must apply to you who belong to the congregation and to the resident foreigner who is living among you, as a permanent statute for your future generations. You and the resident foreigner will be alike before the LORD. | 15For the assembly, there shall be one statute for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you, a statute forever throughout your generations. You and the sojourner shall be alike before the LORD. |
| 16One law and one custom must apply to you and to the resident foreigner who lives alongside you.'" | 16One law and one rule shall be for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.” |
| 17The LORD spoke to Moses: | 17The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, |

| 19and you eat some of the food of the land, you must offer up a raised offering to the LORD. | 19and when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall present a contribution to the LORD. |
| 20You must offer up a cake of the first of your finely ground flour as a raised offering; as you offer the raised offering of the threshing floor, so you must offer it up. | 20Of the first of your dough you shall present a loaf as a contribution; like a contribution from the threshing floor, so shall you present it. |
| 21You must give to the LORD some of the first of your finely ground flour as a raised offering in your future generations. | 21Some of the first of your dough you shall give to the LORD as a contribution throughout your generations. |
| 22"'If you sin unintentionally and do not observe all these commandments that the LORD has spoken to Moses-- | 22“But if you sin unintentionally, and do not observe all these commandments that the LORD has spoken to Moses, |
| 23all that the LORD has commanded you by the authority of Moses, from the day that the LORD commanded Moses and continuing through your future generations-- | 23all that the LORD has commanded you by Moses, from the day that the LORD gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations, |
| 24then if anything is done unintentionally without the knowledge of the community, the whole community must prepare one young bull for a burnt offering--for a pleasing aroma to the LORD--along with its grain offering and its customary drink offering, and one male goat for a purification offering. | 24then if it was done unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, all the congregation shall offer one bull from the herd for a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the rule, and one male goat for a sin offering. |
| 25And the priest is to make atonement for the whole community of the Israelites, and they will be forgiven, because it was unintentional and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire to the LORD, and their purification offering before the LORD, for their unintentional offense. | 25And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the people of Israel, and they shall be forgiven, because it was a mistake, and they have brought their offering, a food offering to the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD for their mistake. |
| 26And the whole community of the Israelites and the resident foreigner who lives among them will be forgiven, since all the people were involved in the unintentional offense. | 26And all the congregation of the people of Israel shall be forgiven, and the stranger who sojourns among them, because the whole population was involved in the mistake. |
| 27"'If any person sins unintentionally, then he must bring a yearling female goat for a purification offering. | 27“If one person sins unintentionally, he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering. |
| 28And the priest must make atonement for the person who sins unintentionally--when he sins unintentionally before the LORD--to make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven. | 28And the priest shall make atonement before the LORD for the person who makes a mistake, when he sins unintentionally, to make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven. |
| 29You must have one law for the person who sins unintentionally, both for the native-born among the Israelites and for the resident foreigner who lives among them. | 29You shall have one law for him who does anything unintentionally, for him who is native among the people of Israel and for the stranger who sojourns among them. |
| 30"'But the person who acts defiantly, whether native-born or a resident foreigner, insults the LORD. That person must be cut off from among his people. | 30But the person who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native or a sojourner, reviles the LORD, and that person shall be cut off from among his people. |
| 31Because he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken his commandment, that person must be completely cut off. His iniquity will be on him.'" | 31Because he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken his commandment, that person shall be utterly cut off; his iniquity shall be on him.” |
| 32When the Israelites were in the wilderness they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day. | 32While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. |
| 33Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and to the whole community. | 33And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. |
| 34They put him in custody, because there was no clear instruction about what should be done to him. | 34They put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. |
| 35Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must surely be put to death; the whole community must stone him with stones outside the camp." | 35And the LORD said to Moses, “The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” |
| 36So the whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the LORD commanded Moses. | 36And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the LORD commanded Moses. |
| 37The LORD spoke to Moses: | 37The LORD said to Moses, |
| 38"Speak to the Israelites and tell them to make tassels for themselves on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and put a blue thread on the tassel of the corners. | 38“Speak to the people of Israel, and tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner. |
| 39You must have this tassel so that you may look at it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and obey them and so that you do not follow after your own heart and your own eyes that lead you to unfaithfulness. | 39And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the LORD, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after. |
| 40Thus you will remember and obey all my commandments and be holy to your God. | 40So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. |
