Psalm 132
NET BibleKing James Bible
A song of ascents. O LORD, for David's sake remember all his strenuous effort, 1A Song of degrees. LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:
and how he made a vow to the LORD, and swore an oath to the powerful ruler of Jacob. 2How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;
He said, "I will not enter my own home, or get into my bed. 3Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
I will not allow my eyes to sleep, or my eyelids to slumber, 4I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
until I find a place for the LORD, a fine dwelling place for the powerful ruler of Jacob." 5Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
Look, we heard about it in Ephrathah, we found it in the territory of Jaar. 6Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
Let us go to his dwelling place! Let us worship before his footstool! 7We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
Ascend, O LORD, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength! 8Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
May your priests be clothed with integrity! May your loyal followers shout for joy! 9Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
For the sake of David, your servant, do not reject your chosen king! 10For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.
The LORD made a reliable promise to David; he will not go back on his word. He said, "I will place one of your descendants on your throne. 11The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
If your sons keep my covenant and the rules I teach them, their sons will also sit on your throne forever." 12If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
Certainly the LORD has chosen Zion; he decided to make it his home. 13For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
He said, "This will be my resting place forever; I will live here, for I have chosen it. 14This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
I will abundantly supply what she needs; I will give her poor all the food they need. 15I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will protect her priests, and her godly people will shout exuberantly. 16I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
There I will make David strong; I have determined that my chosen king's dynasty will continue. 17There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
I will humiliate his enemies, and his crown will shine. 18His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
