Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.1Let brotherly love continue.
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.2Don't neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it.
Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.3Remember those in prison, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily.
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.4Marriage is to be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."5Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or abandon you.
So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"6Therefore, we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.7Remember your leaders who have spoken God's word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so.9Don't be led astray by various kinds of strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be established by grace and not by food regulations, since those who observe them have not benefited.
We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat.10We have an altar from which those who worship at the tabernacle do not have a right to eat.
The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp.11For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the most holy place by the high priest as a sin offering are burned outside the camp.
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.12Therefore, Jesus also suffered outside the gate, so that he might sanctify the people by his own blood.
Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.13Let us then go to him outside the camp, bearing his disgrace.
For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.14For we do not have an enduring city here; instead, we seek the one to come.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.15Therefore, through him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.16Don't neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.17Obey your leaders and submit to them, since they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.18Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, wanting to conduct ourselves honorably in everything.
I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon.19And I urge you all the more to pray that I may be restored to you very soon.
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,20Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus--the great Shepherd of the sheep--through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.21equip you with everything good to do his will, working in us what is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, I urge you to bear with my word of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you quite briefly.22Brothers and sisters, I urge you to receive this message of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.
I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you.23Be aware that our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes soon enough, he will be with me when I see you.
Greet all your leaders and all the Lord's people. Those from Italy send you their greetings.24Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who are from Italy send you greetings.
Grace be with you all.25Grace be with you all.
