Psalm 9
NIV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNew Living Translation
For the director of music. To the tune of "The Death of the Son." A psalm of David. I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.1I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.
I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.2I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.
My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.3My enemies retreated; they staggered and died when you appeared.
For you have upheld my right and my cause, sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.4For you have judged in my favor; from your throne you have judged with fairness.
You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.5You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have erased their names forever.
Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.6The enemy is finished, in endless ruins; the cities you uprooted are now forgotten.
The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.7But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne.
He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity.8He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness.
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.9The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.10Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.
Sing the praises of the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.11Sing praises to the LORD who reigns in Jerusalem. Tell the world about his unforgettable deeds.
For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.12For he who avenges murder cares for the helpless. He does not ignore the cries of those who suffer.
LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,13LORD, have mercy on me. See how my enemies torment me. Snatch me back from the jaws of death.
that I may declare your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion, and there rejoice in your salvation.14Save me so I can praise you publicly at Jerusalem’s gates, so I can rejoice that you have rescued me.
The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.15The nations have fallen into the pit they dug for others. Their own feet have been caught in the trap they set.
The LORD is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.16The LORD is known for his justice. The wicked are trapped by their own deeds. Quiet Interlude
The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God.17The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God.
But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.18But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed.
Arise, LORD, do not let mortals triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence.19Arise, O LORD! Do not let mere mortals defy you! Judge the nations!
Strike them with terror, LORD; let the nations know they are only mortal.20Make them tremble in fear, O LORD. Let the nations know they are merely human. Interlude
