To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Contemplation of David when the Ziphites went and said to Saul, “Is David not hiding with us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your strength.1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might!
Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.2Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
For strangers have risen up against me, And oppressors have sought after my life; They have not set God before them. Selah3For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life—men with no regard for God. Selah
Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.4Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
He will repay my enemies for their evil. Cut them off in Your truth.5He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them.
I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.6Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
For He has delivered me out of all trouble; And my eye has seen its desire upon my enemies.7For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have stared down my foes.
