To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Contemplation of David when the Ziphites went and said to Saul, “Is David not hiding with us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your strength.1For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, "Is not David hiding himself among us?" Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your power.
Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.2Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.
For strangers have risen up against me, And oppressors have sought after my life; They have not set God before them. Selah3For strangers have risen against me And violent men have sought my life; They have not set God before them. Selah.
Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.4Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
He will repay my enemies for their evil. Cut them off in Your truth.5He will recompense the evil to my foes; Destroy them in Your faithfulness.
I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.6Willingly I will sacrifice to You; I will give thanks to Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
For He has delivered me out of all trouble; And my eye has seen its desire upon my enemies.7For He has delivered me from all trouble, And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.
