A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the LORD, Has spoken and called the earth From the rising of the sun to its going down.1The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks; he summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God will shine forth.2From Zion, the perfection of beauty, God appears in radiance.
Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.3Our God is coming; he will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes him, and a storm rages around him.
He shall call to the heavens from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people:4On high, he summons heaven and earth in order to judge his people:
“Gather My saints together to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”5"Gather my faithful ones to me, those who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
Let the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is Judge. Selah6The heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God is the Judge. Selah
“Hear, O My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you; I am God, your God!7"Listen, my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel. I am God, your God.
I will not rebuke you for your sacrifices Or your burnt offerings, Which are continually before Me.8I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or for your burnt offerings, which are continually before me.
I will not take a bull from your house, Nor goats out of your folds.9I will not take a bull from your household or male goats from your pens,
For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills.10for every animal of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.11I know every bird of the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.
“If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.12If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and everything in it is mine.
Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or drink the blood of goats?13Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?
Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High.14Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and pay your vows to the Most High.
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”15Call on me in a day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will honor me."
But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth,16But God says to the wicked: "What right do you have to recite my statutes and to take my covenant on your lips?
Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you?17You hate instruction and fling my words behind you.
When you saw a thief, you consented with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers.18When you see a thief, you make friends with him, and you associate with adulterers.
You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit.19You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue for deceit.
You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.20You sit, maligning your brother, slandering your mother's son.
These things you have done, and I kept silent; You thought that I was altogether like you; But I will rebuke you, And set them in order before your eyes.21You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But I will rebuke you and lay out the case before you.
“Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, And there be none to deliver:22"Understand this, you who forget God, or I will tear you apart, and there will be no one to rescue you.
Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”23Whoever sacrifices a thank offering honors me, and whoever orders his conduct, I will show him the salvation of God."
