Psalm 64
NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
1To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation; Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.1Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
2Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,2Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers,
3Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words,3who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows,
4That they may shoot in secret at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.4shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear.
5They encourage themselves in an evil matter; They talk of laying snares secretly; They say, “Who will see them?”5They hold fast to their evil purpose; they talk of laying snares secretly, thinking, “Who can see them?”
6They devise iniquities: “We have perfected a shrewd scheme.” Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.6They search out injustice, saying, “We have accomplished a diligent search.” For the inward mind and heart of a man are deep.
7But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly they shall be wounded.7But God shoots his arrow at them; they are wounded suddenly.
8So He will make them stumble over their own tongue; All who see them shall flee away.8They are brought to ruin, with their own tongues turned against them; all who see them will wag their heads.
9All men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider His doing.9Then all mankind fears; they tell what God has brought about and ponder what he has done.
10The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory.10Let the righteous one rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult!
