NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. To the Chief Musician. Set to “Mahalath Leannoth.” A Contemplation of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You.1O LORD, God of my salvation, I cry out day and night before you.
Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry.2Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry!
For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near to the grave.3For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.
I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength,4I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am a man who has no strength,
Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand.5like one set loose among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, like those whom you remember no more, for they are cut off from your hand.
You have laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the depths.6You have put me in the depths of the pit, in the regions dark and deep.
Your wrath lies heavy upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah7Your wrath lies heavy upon me, and you overwhelm me with all your waves. Selah
You have put away my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an abomination to them; I am shut up, and I cannot get out;8You have caused my companions to shun me; you have made me a horror to them. I am shut in so that I cannot escape;
My eye wastes away because of affliction. LORD, I have called daily upon You; I have stretched out my hands to You.9my eye grows dim through sorrow. Every day I call upon you, O LORD; I spread out my hands to you.
Will You work wonders for the dead? Shall the dead arise and praise You? Selah10Do you work wonders for the dead? Do the departed rise up to praise you? Selah
Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction?11Is your steadfast love declared in the grave, or your faithfulness in Abaddon?
Shall Your wonders be known in the dark? And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?12Are your wonders known in the darkness, or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
But to You I have cried out, O LORD, And in the morning my prayer comes before You.13But I, O LORD, cry to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.
LORD, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?14O LORD, why do you cast my soul away? Why do you hide your face from me?
I have been afflicted and ready to die from my youth; I suffer Your terrors; I am distraught.15Afflicted and close to death from my youth up, I suffer your terrors; I am helpless.
Your fierce wrath has gone over me; Your terrors have cut me off.16Your wrath has swept over me; your dreadful assaults destroy me.
They came around me all day long like water; They engulfed me altogether.17They surround me like a flood all day long; they close in on me together.
Loved one and friend You have put far from me, And my acquaintances into darkness.18You have caused my beloved and my friend to shun me; my companions have become darkness.
