Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone,
for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.2for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,3This is good, and it pleases God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,5For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human,
who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,6who gave Himself--a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.
for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this I was appointed a herald, an apostle (I am telling the truth; I am not lying), and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;8Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument.
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,9Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel,
but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.10but with good works, as is proper for women who affirm that they worship God.
Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.11A woman should learn in silence with full submission.
And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.12I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to be silent.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.13For Adam was created first, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.
Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.15But she will be saved through childbearing, if she continues in faith, love, and holiness, with good judgment.
