1Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,1Παρακαλῶ οὖν πρῶτον πάντων ποιεῖσθαι δεήσεις προσευχάς ἐντεύξεις εὐχαριστίας ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀνθρώπων
2for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.2ὑπὲρ βασιλέων καὶ πάντων τῶν ἐν ὑπεροχῇ ὄντων ἵνα ἤρεμον καὶ ἡσύχιον βίον διάγωμεν ἐν πάσῃ εὐσεβείᾳ καὶ σεμνότητι
3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,3τοῦτο καλὸν καὶ ἀπόδεκτον ἐνώπιον τοῦ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Θεοῦ
4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.4ὃς πάντας ἀνθρώπους θέλει σωθῆναι καὶ εἰς ἐπίγνωσιν ἀληθείας ἐλθεῖν
5For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,5Εἷς γὰρ Θεός εἷς καὶ μεσίτης Θεοῦ καὶ ἀνθρώπων ἄνθρωπος Χριστὸς Ἰησοῦς
6who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,6ὁ δοὺς ἑαυτὸν ἀντίλυτρον ὑπὲρ πάντων τὸ μαρτύριον καιροῖς ἰδίοις
7for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7εἰς ὃ ἐτέθην ἐγὼ κῆρυξ καὶ ἀπόστολος ἀλήθειαν λέγω οὐ ψεύδομαι διδάσκαλος ἐθνῶν ἐν πίστει καὶ ἀληθείᾳ
8I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;8Βούλομαι οὖν προσεύχεσθαι τοὺς ἄνδρας ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ ἐπαίροντας ὁσίους χεῖρας χωρὶς ὀργῆς καὶ διαλογισμοῦ
9in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,9Ὡσαύτως ‹καὶ› γυναῖκας ἐν καταστολῇ κοσμίῳ μετὰ αἰδοῦς καὶ σωφροσύνης κοσμεῖν ἑαυτάς μὴ ἐν πλέγμασιν καὶ χρυσίῳ ἢ μαργαρίταις ἢ ἱματισμῷ πολυτελεῖ
10but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.10ἀλλ’ ὃ πρέπει γυναιξὶν ἐπαγγελλομέναις θεοσέβειαν δι’ ἔργων ἀγαθῶν
11Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.11Γυνὴ ἐν ἡσυχίᾳ μανθανέτω ἐν πάσῃ ὑποταγῇ
12And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.12διδάσκειν δὲ γυναικὶ οὐκ ἐπιτρέπω οὐδὲ αὐθεντεῖν ἀνδρός ἀλλ’ εἶναι ἐν ἡσυχίᾳ
13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.13Ἀδὰμ γὰρ πρῶτος ἐπλάσθη εἶτα Εὕα
14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.14καὶ Ἀδὰμ οὐκ ἠπατήθη ἡ δὲ γυνὴ ἐξαπατηθεῖσα ἐν παραβάσει γέγονεν
15Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.15σωθήσεται δὲ διὰ τῆς τεκνογονίας ἐὰν μείνωσιν ἐν πίστει καὶ ἀγάπῃ καὶ ἁγιασμῷ μετὰ σωφροσύνης
