Timothy 2
NKJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New King James VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.2for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;8Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,9Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,
but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.10but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.
Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.11A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.13For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.15But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
