Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,1First of all, then, I urge you to offer to God petitions, prayers, intercessions, and expressions of thanks for all people,
for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.2for kings, and for everyone who has authority, so that we might lead a quiet and peaceful life with all godliness and dignity.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.4who wants all people to be saved and to come to know the truth fully.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,5There is one God. There is also one mediator between God and human beings—a human, the Messiah Jesus.
who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,6He gave himself as a ransom for everyone, the testimony at the proper time.
for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this reason I was appointed to be an announcer, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the gentiles. (I am telling you the truth. I am not lying.)
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;8Therefore, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without being angry or argumentative.
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,9Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not with elaborate hairstyles or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes,
but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.10but through good actions. This is proper for women who claim to revere God.
Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.11Let a woman learn with a quiet spirit, and submissively.
And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.12Moreover, in the area of teaching, I am not allowing a woman to instigate conflict toward a man. Instead, she is to remain calm.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.13For Adam was formed first, then Eve,
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.14and it was not Adam who was deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and became disobedient,
Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.15even though she will be saved through the birth of the Child, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, along with good judgment.
