Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.1One afternoon, Peter and John were on their way to the Temple for the three o'clock prayer time.
And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;2Now a man who had been crippled from birth was being carried in. Every day people would lay him at what was called the Beautiful Gate so that he could beg from those who were going into the Temple.
who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.3When he saw that Peter and John were about to go into the Temple, he asked them to give him something.
And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”4Peter, along with John, looked him straight in the eye and said, "Look at us!"
So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.5So the man watched them closely, expecting to get something from them.
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”6However, Peter said, "I don't have any silver or gold, but I'll give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus the Messiah from Nazareth, walk!"
And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.7Then Peter took hold of his right hand and began to help him up. Immediately his feet and ankles became strong,
So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.8and he sprang to his feet, stood up, and began to walk. Then he went with them into the Temple, walking, jumping, and praising God.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God.9When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.10they knew that he was the man who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed.11While he was holding on to Peter and John, all the people came running to them in what was called "Solomon's Colonnade". They were dumbfounded.
So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?12When Peter saw this, he told the people: "Fellow Israelis, why are you wondering about this, and why are you staring at us as if by our own power or godliness we made him walk?
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.13The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of our ancestors—has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you betrayed and rejected in the presence of Pilate, even though he had decided to let him go.
But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,14You rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked to have a murderer released to you,
and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.15and you killed the source of life, whom God raised from the dead. We are witnesses to that.
And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.16It is his name—that is, by faith in his name—that has healed this man whom you see and know. Yes, the faith that comes through Jesus has given him this perfect health in the presence of all of you.
“Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers.17"And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance like your leaders.
But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.18This is how God fulfilled what he had predicted through the voice of all the prophets—that his Messiah would suffer.
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,19Therefore, repent and turn to him to have your sins blotted out,
and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,20so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord and so that he may send you Jesus, whom he appointed long ago to be the Messiah.
whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.21He must remain in heaven until the time of universal restitution, which God announced long ago through the voice of his holy prophets.
For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you.22In fact, Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to everything he tells you.
And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’23Any person who will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.'
Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.24"Indeed, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who followed him, also announced these days.
You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’25You are the descendants of the prophets and the heirs of the covenant that God made with your ancestors when he told Abraham, 'Through your descendant all the families of the earth will be blessed.'
To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”26When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning every one of you from your evil ways."
