NKJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew International Version
A Psalm of David. A Contemplation. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.1Of David. A maskil. Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit.2Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long.3When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah4For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.
I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah5Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD." And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters They shall not come near him.6Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them.
You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah7You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.8I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.9Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.10Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!11Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!
