| 1Let brotherly love continue. | 1Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. |

| 3Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also. | 3Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies. |
| 4Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. | 4Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery. |
| 5Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” | 5Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” |

| 7Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. | 7Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith. |

| 13Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. | 13So let us go out to him, outside the camp, and bear the disgrace he bore. |
| 14For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. | 14For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. |
| 15Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. | 15Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. |
| 16But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. | 16And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. |
| 17Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. | 17Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. |
| 18Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. | 18Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do. |
| 19But I especially urge you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. | 19And especially pray that I will be able to come back to you soon. |

| 22And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words. | 22I urge you, dear brothers and sisters, to pay attention to what I have written in this brief exhortation. |
| 23Know that our brother Timothy has been set free, with whom I shall see you if he comes shortly. | 23I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released from jail. If he comes here soon, I will bring him with me to see you. |
| 24Greet all those who rule over you, and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you. | 24Greet all your leaders and all the believers there. The believers from Italy send you their greetings. |
| 25Grace be with you all. Amen. | 25May God’s grace be with you all. |
