Prayer for the Son

1  Ταῦτα (These things) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), καὶ (and) ἐπάρας (having lifted up) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἰς (to) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) εἶπεν (He said)· Πάτερ (Father), ἐλήλυθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour)· δόξασόν (glorify) σου (Your) τὸν (-) Υἱόν (Son), ἵνα (that) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) δοξάσῃ (may glorify) σέ (You), 2  καθὼς (As) ἔδωκας (You gave) αὐτῷ (to Him) ἐξουσίαν (authority) πάσης (over all) σαρκός (flesh), ἵνα (so that) πᾶν (all) ὃ (whom) δέδωκας (You have given) αὐτῷ (to Him) δώσῃ (He may give) αὐτοῖς (to them) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal). 3  αὕτη (This) δέ (now) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (-) αἰώνιος (eternal) ζωὴ (life), ἵνα (that) γινώσκωσιν (they may know) σὲ (You) τὸν (the) μόνον (only) ἀληθινὸν (true) Θεὸν (God) καὶ (and) ὃν (whom) ἀπέστειλας (You sent) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστόν (Christ). 4  ἐγώ (I) σε (You) ἐδόξασα (glorified) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) τελειώσας (having completed) ὃ (that) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me) ἵνα (that) ποιήσω (I should do)· 5  καὶ (And) νῦν (now) δόξασόν (glorify) με (Me) σύ (You), Πάτερ (Father), παρὰ (with) σεαυτῷ (Yourself) τῇ (with the) δόξῃ (glory) ᾗ (that) εἶχον (I had) πρὸ (before) τοῦ (-) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) εἶναι (existed) παρὰ (with) σοί (You).

Prayer for the Disciples

6  Ἐφανέρωσά (I revealed) σου (Your) τὸ (-) ὄνομα (name) τοῖς (to the) ἀνθρώποις (men) οὓς (whom) ἔδωκάς (You gave) μοι (to Me) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world). σοὶ (Yours) ἦσαν (they were) κἀμοὶ (and to Me) αὐτοὺς (them) ἔδωκας (You gave), καὶ (and) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) σου (of You) τετήρηκαν (they have kept). 7  νῦν (Now) ἔγνωκαν (they have known) ὅτι (that) πάντα (all things) ὅσα (as many as) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me) παρὰ (of) σοῦ (You) εἰσιν (are)· 8  ὅτι (for) τὰ (the) ῥήματα (words) ἃ (that) ἔδωκάς (You gave) μοι (to Me) δέδωκα (I have given) αὐτοῖς (them), καὶ (and) αὐτοὶ (they) ἔλαβον (received them), καὶ (and) ἔγνωσαν (they knew) ἀληθῶς (truly) ὅτι (that) παρὰ (from) σοῦ (You) ἐξῆλθον (I came forth), καὶ (and) ἐπίστευσαν (they believed) ὅτι (that) σύ (You) με (Me) ἀπέστειλας (sent).

9  Ἐγὼ (I) περὶ (concerning) αὐτῶν (them) ἐρωτῶ (ask)· οὐ (Not) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) ἐρωτῶ (I ask), ἀλλὰ (but) περὶ (concerning) ὧν (those whom) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me), ὅτι (for) σοί (Yours) εἰσιν (they are), 10  καὶ (And) τὰ (things) ἐμὰ (of mine) πάντα (all) σά (Yours) ἐστιν (are) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) σὰ (Yours) ἐμά (Mine), καὶ (and) δεδόξασμαι (I have been glorified) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them). 11  καὶ (And) οὐκέτι (no longer) εἰμὶ (I am) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world), καὶ (and) αὐτοὶ (themselves) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world) εἰσίν (they are), κἀγὼ (and I) πρὸς (to) σὲ (You) ἔρχομαι (am coming).

Πάτερ (Father) ἅγιε (Holy), τήρησον (keep) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματί (name) σου (of You) ᾧ (which) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me), ἵνα (so that) ὦσιν (they may be) ἓν (one) καθὼς (as) ἡμεῖς (We are). 12  ὅτε (When) ἤμην (I was) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them), ἐγὼ (I) ἐτήρουν (was keeping) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματί (name) σου (of You) ᾧ (which) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me), καὶ (And) ἐφύλαξα (I guarded them), καὶ (and) οὐδεὶς (none) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ἀπώλετο (perished) εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) υἱὸς (son) τῆς (-) ἀπωλείας (of destruction), ἵνα (so that) ἡ (the) γραφὴ (Scripture) πληρωθῇ (might be fulfilled).

13  Νῦν (Now) δὲ (however) πρὸς (to) σὲ (You) ἔρχομαι (I am coming), καὶ (and) ταῦτα (these things) λαλῶ (I speak) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world) ἵνα (so that) ἔχωσιν (they may have) τὴν (-) χαρὰν (joy) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My) πεπληρωμένην (fulfilled) ἐν (within) ἑαυτοῖς (them). 14  ἐγὼ (I) δέδωκα (have given) αὐτοῖς (to them) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) σου (of You), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ἐμίσησεν (hated) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) εἰσὶν (they are) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) καθὼς (just as) ἐγὼ (I) οὐκ (not) εἰμὶ (am) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world).

15  Οὐκ (Not) ἐρωτῶ (I ask) ἵνα (that) ἄρῃς (You would take) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) τηρήσῃς (You would keep) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil). 16  ἐκ (Of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) οὐκ (not) εἰσὶν (they are) καθὼς (as) ἐγὼ (I) οὐκ (not) εἰμὶ (am) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world). 17  ἁγίασον (Sanctify) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth)· ὁ (the) λόγος (word) ὁ (-) σὸς (of You) ἀλήθειά (truth) ἐστιν (is). 18  καθὼς (As) ἐμὲ (Me) ἀπέστειλας (You sent) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), κἀγὼ (I also) ἀπέστειλα (sent) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world)· 19  καὶ (and) ὑπὲρ (for) αὐτῶν (them) ἐγὼ (I) ἁγιάζω (sanctify) ἐμαυτόν (Myself), ἵνα (so that) ὦσιν (may be) καὶ (also) αὐτοὶ (they) ἡγιασμένοι (sanctified) ἐν (in) ἀληθείᾳ (truth).

Prayer for All Believers

20  Οὐ (Not) περὶ (for) τούτων (these) δὲ (however) ἐρωτῶ (I ask) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) περὶ (for) τῶν (those) πιστευόντων (believing) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) λόγου (word) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰς (in) ἐμέ (Me), 21  ἵνα (that) πάντες (all) ἓν (one) ὦσιν (may be), καθὼς (as) σύ (You), πάτερ (Father), ἐν (are in) ἐμοὶ (Me) κἀγὼ (and I) ἐν (in) σοί (You), ἵνα (that) καὶ (also) αὐτοὶ (they) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (Us) ὦσιν (may be), ἵνα (so that) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) πιστεύῃ (may believe) ὅτι (that) σύ (You) με (Me) ἀπέστειλας (sent).

22  Κἀγὼ (And I) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) ἣν (that) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me) δέδωκα (have given) αὐτοῖς (to them), ἵνα (so that) ὦσιν (they may be) ἓν (one) καθὼς (as) ἡμεῖς (We) ἕν (are one)· 23  ἐγὼ (I) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) καὶ (and) σὺ (You) ἐν (in) ἐμοί (Me), ἵνα (so that) ὦσιν (they may be) τετελειωμένοι (perfected) εἰς (in) ἕν (unity), ἵνα (so that) γινώσκῃ (may know) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ὅτι (that) σύ (You) με (Me) ἀπέστειλας (sent) καὶ (and) ἠγάπησας (loved) αὐτοὺς (them) καθὼς (even as) ἐμὲ (Me) ἠγάπησας (You loved).

24  Πάτερ (Father), ὃ (those whom) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me), θέλω (I want) ἵνα (that) ὅπου (where) εἰμὶ (am) ἐγὼ (I) κἀκεῖνοι (they also) ὦσιν (may be) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me), ἵνα (so that) θεωρῶσιν (they may behold) τὴν (-) δόξαν (glory) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My), ἣν (that) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (to Me) ὅτι (because) ἠγάπησάς (You loved) με (Me) πρὸ (before) καταβολῆς (the foundation) κόσμου (of the world).

25  Πάτερ (Father) δίκαιε (righteous), καὶ (although) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) σε (You) οὐκ (not) ἔγνω (knew), ἐγὼ (I) δέ (however) σε (You) ἔγνων (knew), καὶ (and) οὗτοι (these) ἔγνωσαν (knew) ὅτι (that) σύ (You) με (Me) ἀπέστειλας (sent)· 26  καὶ (And) ἐγνώρισα (I made known) αὐτοῖς (to them) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You) καὶ (and) γνωρίσω (will make it known), ἵνα (so that) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) ἣν (with which) ἠγάπησάς (You loved) με (Me) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) ᾖ (may be) κἀγὼ (and I) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them).
