A Tent for the Ark 1And they brought the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the face of God. 2And David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, and he blessed the people in the name of YHWH. 3And he distributed to each man of Israel, from man and to woman, to everyone a cake of bread, and a date cake,† and a raisin cake. 4And he put before the face of the ark of YHWH some of the Levites to minister, and to commemorate, and to thank, and to praise YHWH, God of Israel: 5Asaph was the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with stringed instruments and harps; and Asaph sounded with cymbals. 6And Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests regularly blew the trumpets before the face of the ark of the covenant of God. David’s Psalm of Thanksgiving 7On that day then David delivered at the beginning to give thanks to YHWH by the hand of Asaph and his brothers: 8“Give thanks to YHWH, Call upon His name, make known among the peoples His deeds. 9Sing to Him, sing praises to Him, 10Glory in His holy name; let rejoice the hearts of those seeking YHWH. 11Seek YHWH and His strength, 12Remember His wonders that He has done, His wonders and the ordinances of His mouth, 13O seed of Israel His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones. 14He is YHWH our God; in all the earth are His judgments. 15Remember† His covenant forever, the word He commanded to a thousand generations— 16that He made with Abraham, 17And He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, 18saying, ‘To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your⁺ inheritance.’ 19When you⁺ were few in number, indeed few, and sojourners in it, 20then they wandered from nation to nation and from a kingdom to another people. 21He permitted no man to oppress them, and He rebuked kings on their behalf: 22‘Do not touch My anointed ones, Sing to Yahweh, All the Earth 23Sing to YHWH, all the earth. Proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare among the nations His glory, among all the peoples His wonders. 25For great is YHWH, and greatly to be praised; and He is to be feared above all gods. 26For all the gods of the peoples are nothing, 27Honor and majesty are before Him, strength and joy in His place. 28Give to YHWH, O families of peoples, Ascribe to YHWH glory and strength. 29Ascribe to YHWH the honor of His name; bring an offering and come before His face. Worship YHWH in the beauty of holiness; 30tremble before Him all the earth. Indeed the world is firmly established; 31Let the heavens rejoice and let the earth be glad, and let them say among the nations, 32Let the sea roar and all its fullness; let the field rejoice 33Then the trees of the forest shall rejoice before YHWH, for He is coming to judge the earth. 34Give thanks to YHWH, for He is good; His loving devotion† is even to forever. 35And say, ‘Save us, O God of our salvation, and Gather us together, and snatch us up from the Gentiles, to give thanks to Your holy name, 36Blessed be YHWH, God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting.” And all the people said, “Amen,” and praised YHWH. Worship before the Ark 37And he left there before the face of the ark of the covenant of YHWH Asaph and his brothers, to minister before the face of the ark regularly, according to the matter of a day in its day, 38and Obed-edom and their brothers, sixty-eight, and Obed-edom son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be gatekeepers, 39and Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of YHWH at the high place that was in Gibeon, 40to offer burnt offerings to YHWH on the altar of the burnt offering regularly morning and evening, and for all that is written in the Law of YHWH, which He commanded upon Israel, 41and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen, who were designated by name to give thanks to YHWH, because “His loving devotion is forever.” 42And with them were Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals to sound aloud, and the instruments of the song of God.† And the sons of Jeduthun were the gatekeepers. 43And all the people departed, every man to his house, and David returned to bless his house.
