Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.1Περὶ δὲ τῶν πνευματικῶν ἀδελφοί οὐ θέλω ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν
You know that when you were pagans, you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.2Οἴδατε ὅτι ὅτε ἔθνη ἦτε πρὸς τὰ εἴδωλα τὰ ἄφωνα ὡς ἂν ἤγεσθε ἀπαγόμενοι
Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.3διὸ γνωρίζω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς ἐν Πνεύματι Θεοῦ λαλῶν λέγει Αναθεμα ΙΗΣΟΥΣ καὶ οὐδεὶς δύναται εἰπεῖν Κυριος ΙΗΣΟΥΣ εἰ μὴ ἐν Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ
There are different gifts, but the same Spirit.4Διαιρέσεις δὲ χαρισμάτων εἰσίν τὸ δὲ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα
There are different ministries, but the same Lord.5καὶ διαιρέσεις διακονιῶν εἰσιν καὶ αὐτὸς Κύριος
There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people.6καὶ διαιρέσεις ἐνεργημάτων εἰσίν (καὶ) δὲ αὐτὸς Θεός ἐνεργῶν τὰ πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.7Ἑκάστῳ δὲ δίδοται φανέρωσις τοῦ Πνεύματος πρὸς τὸ συμφέρον
To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit,8 μὲν γὰρ διὰ τοῦ Πνεύματος δίδοται λόγος σοφίας ἄλλῳ δὲ λόγος γνώσεως κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα
to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,9ἑτέρῳ πίστις ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ Πνεύματι ἄλλῳ δὲ χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἐν τῷ ἑνὶ Πνεύματι
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.10ἄλλῳ δὲ ἐνεργήματα δυνάμεων ἄλλῳ δὲ προφητεία ἄλλῳ δὲ διακρίσεις πνευμάτων ἑτέρῳ γένη γλωσσῶν ἄλλῳ δὲ ἑρμηνεία γλωσσῶν
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.11πάντα δὲ ταῦτα ἐνεργεῖ τὸ ἓν καὶ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα διαιροῦν ἰδίᾳ ἑκάστῳ καθὼς βούλεται
The body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ.12Καθάπερ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα ἕν ἐστιν καὶ μέλη πολλὰ ἔχει πάντα δὲ τὰ μέλη τοῦ σώματος πολλὰ ὄντα ἕν ἐστιν σῶμα οὕτως καὶ Χριστός
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink.13καὶ γὰρ ἐν ἑνὶ Πνεύματι ἡμεῖς πάντες εἰς ἓν σῶμα ἐβαπτίσθημεν εἴτε Ἰουδαῖοι εἴτε Ἕλληνες εἴτε δοῦλοι εἴτε ἐλεύθεροι καὶ πάντες ἓν Πνεῦμα ἐποτίσθημεν
For the body does not consist of one part, but of many.14Καὶ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα οὐκ ἔστιν ἓν μέλος ἀλλὰ πολλά
If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.15ἐὰν εἴπῃ πούς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ χείρ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.16καὶ ἐὰν εἴπῃ τὸ οὖς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ ὀφθαλμός οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?17εἰ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα ὀφθαλμός ποῦ ἀκοή εἰ ὅλον ἀκοή ποῦ ὄσφρησις
But in fact, God has arranged the members of the body, every one of them, according to His design.18Νυνὶ* δὲ Θεὸς ἔθετο τὰ μέλη ἓν ἕκαστον αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ σώματι καθὼς ἠθέλησεν
If they were all one part, where would the body be?19εἰ δὲ ἦν τὰ πάντα ἓν μέλος ποῦ τὸ σῶμα
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.20νῦν δὲ πολλὰ μὲν μέλη ἓν δὲ σῶμα
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.” Nor can the head say to the feet, “I do not need you.”21Οὐ δύναται δὲ ὀφθαλμὸς εἰπεῖν τῇ χειρί Χρείαν σου οὐκ ἔχω πάλιν κεφαλὴ τοῖς ποσίν Χρείαν ὑμῶν οὐκ ἔχω
On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,22ἀλλὰ πολλῷ μᾶλλον τὰ δοκοῦντα μέλη τοῦ σώματος ἀσθενέστερα ὑπάρχειν ἀναγκαῖά ἐστιν
and the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special modesty,23καὶ δοκοῦμεν ἀτιμότερα εἶναι τοῦ σώματος τούτοις τιμὴν περισσοτέραν περιτίθεμεν καὶ τὰ ἀσχήμονα ἡμῶν εὐσχημοσύνην περισσοτέραν ἔχει
whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,24τὰ δὲ εὐσχήμονα ἡμῶν οὐ χρείαν ἔχει Ἀλλὰ θεὸς συνεκέρασεν τὸ σῶμα τῷ ὑστερουμένῳ περισσοτέραν δοὺς τιμήν
so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another.25ἵνα μὴ σχίσμα ἐν τῷ σώματι ἀλλὰ τὸ αὐτὸ ὑπὲρ ἀλλήλων μεριμνῶσιν τὰ μέλη
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.26καὶ εἴτε πάσχει ἓν μέλος συμπάσχει πάντα τὰ μέλη εἴτε δοξάζεται [ἓν] μέλος συνχαίρει πάντα τὰ μέλη
Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it.27Ὑμεῖς δέ ἐστε σῶμα Χριστοῦ καὶ μέλη ἐκ μέρους
And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.28Καὶ οὓς μὲν ἔθετο Θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ πρῶτον ἀποστόλους δεύτερον προφήτας τρίτον διδασκάλους ἔπειτα δυνάμεις ἔπειτα χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἀντιλήμψεις κυβερνήσεις γένη γλωσσῶν
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?29μὴ πάντες ἀπόστολοι μὴ πάντες προφῆται μὴ πάντες διδάσκαλοι μὴ πάντες δυνάμεις
Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?30μὴ πάντες χαρίσματα ἔχουσιν ἰαμάτων μὴ πάντες γλώσσαις λαλοῦσιν μὴ πάντες διερμηνεύουσιν
But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.31ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ χαρίσματα τὰ μείζονα Καὶ ἔτι καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῖν δείκνυμι
