From the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn they made specially woven garments for ministry in the sanctuary, as well as the holy garments for Aaron, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.1The craftsmen made beautiful sacred garments of blue, purple, and scarlet cloth—clothing for Aaron to wear while ministering in the Holy Place, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. Making the Ephod
Bezalel made the ephod of finely spun linen embroidered with gold, and with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn.2Bezalel made the ephod of finely woven linen and embroidered it with gold and with blue, purple, and scarlet thread.
They hammered out thin sheets of gold and cut threads from them to interweave with the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen—the work of a skilled craftsman.3He made gold thread by hammering out thin sheets of gold and cutting it into fine strands. With great skill and care, he worked it into the fine linen with the blue, purple, and scarlet thread.
They made shoulder pieces for the ephod, which were attached at two of its corners, so it could be fastened.4The ephod consisted of two pieces, front and back, joined at the shoulders with two shoulder-pieces.
And the skillfully woven waistband of the ephod was of one piece with the ephod, of the same workmanship—with gold, with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and with finely spun linen, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.5The decorative sash was made of the same materials: finely woven linen embroidered with gold and with blue, purple, and scarlet thread, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
They mounted the onyx stones in gold filigree settings, engraved like a seal with the names of the sons of Israel.6They mounted the two onyx stones in settings of gold filigree. The stones were engraved with the names of the tribes of Israel, just as a seal is engraved.
Then they fastened them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel, as the LORD had commanded Moses.7He fastened these stones on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod as a reminder that the priest represents the people of Israel. All this was done just as the LORD had commanded Moses. Making the Chestpiece
He made the breastpiece with the same workmanship as the ephod, with gold, with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and with finely spun linen.8Bezalel made the chestpiece with great skill and care. He made it to match the ephod, using finely woven linen embroidered with gold and with blue, purple, and scarlet thread.
It was square when folded over double, a span long and a span wide.9He made the chestpiece of a single piece of cloth folded to form a pouch nine inches square.
And they mounted on it four rows of gemstones: The first row had a ruby, a topaz, and an emerald;10They mounted four rows of gemstones on it. The first row contained a red carnelian, a pale-green peridot, and an emerald.
the second row had a turquoise, a sapphire, and a diamond;11The second row contained a turquoise, a blue lapis lazuli, and a white moonstone.
the third row had a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;12The third row contained an orange jacinth, an agate, and a purple amethyst.
and the fourth row had a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. These stones were mounted in gold filigree settings.13The fourth row contained a blue-green beryl, an onyx, and a green jasper. All these stones were set in gold filigree.
The twelve stones corresponded to the names of the sons of Israel. Each stone was engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.14Each stone represented one of the twelve sons of Israel, and the name of that tribe was engraved on it like a seal.
For the breastpiece they made braided chains like cords of pure gold.15To attach the chestpiece to the ephod, they made braided cords of pure gold thread.
They also made two gold filigree settings and two gold rings, and fastened the two rings to the two corners of the breastpiece.16They also made two settings of gold filigree and two gold rings and attached them to the top corners of the chestpiece.
Then they fastened the two gold chains to the two gold rings at the corners of the breastpiece,17They tied the two gold cords to the rings on the chestpiece.
and they fastened the other ends of the two chains to the two filigree settings, attaching them to the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front.18They tied the other ends of the cords to the gold settings on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod.
They made two more gold rings and attached them to the other two corners of the breastpiece, on the inside edge next to the ephod.19Then they made two more gold rings and attached them to the inside edges of the chestpiece next to the ephod.
They made two additional gold rings and attached them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, on its front, near the seam just above its woven waistband.20Then they made two more gold rings and attached them to the front of the ephod, below the shoulder-pieces, just above the knot where the decorative sash was fastened to the ephod.
Then they tied the rings of the breastpiece to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue yarn, so that the breastpiece was above the waistband of the ephod and would not swing out from the ephod, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.21They attached the bottom rings of the chestpiece to the rings on the ephod with blue cords. In this way, the chestpiece was held securely to the ephod above the decorative sash. All this was done just as the LORD had commanded Moses. Additional Clothing for the Priests
They made the robe of the ephod entirely of blue cloth, the work of a weaver,22Bezalel made the robe that is worn with the ephod from a single piece of blue woven cloth,
with an opening in the center of the robe like that of a garment, with a collar around the opening so that it would not tear.23with an opening for Aaron’s head in the middle of it. The opening was reinforced with a woven collar so it would not tear.
They made pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and finely spun linen on the lower hem of the robe.24They made pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and attached them to the hem of the robe.
They also made bells of pure gold and attached them around the hem between the pomegranates,25They also made bells of pure gold and placed them between the pomegranates along the hem of the robe,
alternating the bells and pomegranates around the lower hem of the robe to be worn for ministry, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.26with bells and pomegranates alternating all around the hem. This robe was to be worn whenever the priest ministered before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
For Aaron and his sons they made tunics of fine linen, the work of a weaver,27They made tunics for Aaron and his sons from fine linen cloth.
as well as the turban of fine linen, the ornate headbands and undergarments of finely spun linen,28The turban and the special head coverings were made of fine linen, and the undergarments were also made of finely woven linen.
and the sash of finely spun linen, embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.29The sashes were made of finely woven linen and embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet thread, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
They also made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and they engraved on it, like an inscription on a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD.30Finally, they made the sacred medallion—the badge of holiness—of pure gold. They engraved it like a seal with these words: Holy to the Lord .
Then they fastened to it a blue cord to mount it on the turban, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.31They attached the medallion with a blue cord to Aaron’s turban, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. Moses Inspects the Work
So all the work for the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, was completed. The Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.32And so at last the Tabernacle was finished. The Israelites had done everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then they brought the tabernacle to Moses: the tent with all its furnishings, its clasps, its frames, its crossbars, and its posts and bases;33And they brought the entire Tabernacle to Moses: the sacred tent with all its furnishings, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts, and bases;
the covering of ram skins dyed red, the covering of fine leather, and the veil of the covering;34the tent coverings of tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather; the inner curtain to shield the Ark;
the ark of the Testimony with its poles and the mercy seat;35the Ark of the Covenant and its carrying poles; the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement;
the table with all its utensils and the Bread of the Presence;36the table and all its utensils; the Bread of the Presence;
the pure gold lampstand with its row of lamps and all its utensils, as well as the oil for the light;37the pure gold lampstand with its symmetrical lamp cups, all its accessories, and the olive oil for lighting;
the gold altar, the anointing oil, the fragrant incense, and the curtain for the entrance to the tent;38the gold altar; the anointing oil and fragrant incense; the curtain for the entrance of the sacred tent;
the bronze altar with its bronze grating, its poles, and all its utensils; the basin with its stand;39the bronze altar; the bronze grating and its carrying poles and utensils; the washbasin with its stand;
the curtains of the courtyard with its posts and bases; the curtain for the gate of the courtyard, its ropes and tent pegs, and all the equipment for the service of the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting;40the curtains for the walls of the courtyard; the posts and their bases; the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard; the ropes and tent pegs; all the furnishings to be used in worship at the Tabernacle;
and the woven garments for ministering in the sanctuary, both the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons to serve as priests.41the beautifully stitched garments for the priests to wear while ministering in the Holy Place—the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests.
The Israelites had done all the work just as the LORD had commanded Moses.42So the people of Israel followed all of the LORD’s instructions to Moses.
And Moses inspected all the work and saw that they had accomplished it just as the LORD had commanded. So Moses blessed them.43Then Moses inspected all their work. When he found it had been done just as the LORD had commanded him, he blessed them.
