Accept anyone who is weak in faith, but don't argue about disputed matters.1Τὸν δὲ ἀσθενοῦντα τῇ πίστει προσλαμβάνεσθε μὴ εἰς διακρίσεις διαλογισμῶν
One person believes he may eat anything, while one who is weak eats only vegetables.2ὃς μὲν πιστεύει φαγεῖν πάντα δὲ ἀσθενῶν λάχανα ἐσθίει
One who eats must not look down on one who does not eat, and one who does not eat must not judge one who does, because God has accepted him.3 ἐσθίων τὸν μὴ ἐσθίοντα μὴ ἐξουθενείτω δὲ μὴ ἐσθίων τὸν ἐσθίοντα μὴ κρινέτω Θεὸς γὰρ αὐτὸν προσελάβετο
Who are you to judge another's household servant? Before his own Lord he stands or falls. And he will stand, because the Lord is able to make him stand.4σὺ τίς εἶ κρίνων ἀλλότριον οἰκέτην τῷ ἰδίῳ κυρίῳ στήκει πίπτει σταθήσεται δέ δυνατεῖ γὰρ Κύριος στῆσαι αὐτόν
One person judges one day to be more important than another day. Someone else judges every day to be the same. Let each one be fully convinced in his own mind.5Ὃς μὲν γὰρ κρίνει ἡμέραν παρ’ ἡμέραν ὃς δὲ κρίνει πᾶσαν ἡμέραν ἕκαστος ἐν τῷ ἰδίῳ νοῒ πληροφορείσθω
Whoever observes the day, observes it for the honor of the Lord. Whoever eats, eats for the Lord, since he gives thanks to God; and whoever does not eat, it is for the Lord that he does not eat it, and he gives thanks to God.6 φρονῶν τὴν ἡμέραν Κυρίῳ φρονεῖ ⧼καὶ μὴ φρονῶν τὴν ἡμέραν κυρίῳ οὐ φρονεῖ⧽ ἐσθίων Κυρίῳ ἐσθίει εὐχαριστεῖ γὰρ τῷ Θεῷ καὶ μὴ ἐσθίων Κυρίῳ οὐκ ἐσθίει καὶ εὐχαριστεῖ τῷ Θεῷ
For none of us lives for himself, and no one dies for himself.7Οὐδεὶς γὰρ ἡμῶν ἑαυτῷ ζῇ καὶ οὐδεὶς ἑαυτῷ ἀποθνῄσκει
If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.8ἐάν τε γὰρ ζῶμεν τῷ Κυρίῳ ζῶμεν ἐάν τε ἀποθνήσκωμεν τῷ Κυρίῳ ἀποθνήσκομεν ἐάν τε οὖν ζῶμεν ἐάν τε ἀποθνήσκωμεν τοῦ Κυρίου ἐσμέν
Christ died and returned to life for this: that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living.9εἰς τοῦτο γὰρ Χριστὸς ἀπέθανεν καὶ ἔζησεν ἵνα καὶ νεκρῶν καὶ ζώντων κυριεύσῃ
But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.10Σὺ δὲ τί κρίνεις τὸν ἀδελφόν σου καὶ σὺ τί ἐξουθενεῖς τὸν ἀδελφόν σου πάντες γὰρ παραστησόμεθα τῷ βήματι τοῦ Θεοῦ
For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God.11γέγραπται γάρ Ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει Κύριος ὅτι ἐμοὶ κάμψει πᾶν γόνυ καὶ πᾶσα γλῶσσα ἐξομολογήσεται τῷ Θεῷ
So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.12Ἄρα οὖν ἕκαστος ἡμῶν περὶ ἑαυτοῦ λόγον δώσει τῷ Θεῷ
Therefore, let us no longer judge one another. Instead decide never to put a stumbling block or pitfall in the way of your brother or sister.13Μηκέτι οὖν ἀλλήλους κρίνωμεν ἀλλὰ τοῦτο κρίνατε μᾶλλον τὸ μὴ τιθέναι πρόσκομμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ σκάνδαλον
I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. Still, to someone who considers a thing to be unclean, to that one it is unclean.14Οἶδα καὶ πέπεισμαι ἐν Κυρίῳ Ἰησοῦ ὅτι οὐδὲν κοινὸν δι’ ἑαυτοῦ εἰ μὴ τῷ λογιζομένῳ τι κοινὸν εἶναι ἐκείνῳ κοινόν
For if your brother or sister is hurt by what you eat, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy, by what you eat, someone for whom Christ died.15εἰ γὰρ διὰ βρῶμα ἀδελφός σου λυπεῖται οὐκέτι κατὰ ἀγάπην περιπατεῖς μὴ τῷ βρώματί σου ἐκεῖνον ἀπόλλυε ὑπὲρ οὗ Χριστὸς ἀπέθανεν
Therefore, do not let your good be slandered,16Μὴ βλασφημείσθω οὖν ὑμῶν τὸ ἀγαθόν
for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.17οὐ γάρ ἐστιν βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ βρῶσις καὶ πόσις ἀλλὰ δικαιοσύνη καὶ εἰρήνη καὶ χαρὰ ἐν Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ
Whoever serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and receives human approval.18 γὰρ ἐν τούτῳ δουλεύων τῷ Χριστῷ εὐάρεστος τῷ Θεῷ καὶ δόκιμος τοῖς ἀνθρώποις
So then, let us pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another.19Ἄρα οὖν τὰ τῆς εἰρήνης διώκωμεν* καὶ τὰ τῆς οἰκοδομῆς τῆς εἰς ἀλλήλους
Do not tear down God's work because of food. Everything is clean, but it is wrong to make someone fall by what he eats.20μὴ ἕνεκεν βρώματος κατάλυε τὸ ἔργον τοῦ Θεοῦ πάντα μὲν καθαρά ἀλλὰ κακὸν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τῷ διὰ προσκόμματος ἐσθίοντι
It is a good thing not to eat meat, or drink wine, or do anything that makes your brother or sister stumble.21καλὸν τὸ μὴ φαγεῖν κρέα μηδὲ πιεῖν οἶνον μηδὲ ἐν ἀδελφός σου προσκόπτει ‹ἢ σκανδαλίζεται ἀσθενεῖ›
Whatever you believe about these things, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves.22Σὺ πίστιν ἣν ἔχεις κατὰ σεαυτὸν ἔχε ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ μακάριος μὴ κρίνων ἑαυτὸν ἐν δοκιμάζει
But whoever doubts stands condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith, and everything that is not from faith is sin.23 δὲ διακρινόμενος ἐὰν φάγῃ κατακέκριται ὅτι οὐκ ἐκ πίστεως πᾶν δὲ οὐκ ἐκ πίστεως ἁμαρτία ἐστίν
