| 1Solomon completed his entire palace complex after 13 years of construction. | 1But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house. |
| 2He built the House of the Forest of Lebanon. It was 150 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high on four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams on top of the pillars. | 2He built also the house of the forest of Lebanon; the length thereof was an hundred cubits, and the breadth thereof fifty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits, upon four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams upon the pillars. |
| 3It was paneled above with cedar at the top of the chambers that rested on 45 pillars, 15 per row. | 3And it was covered with cedar above upon the beams, that lay on forty five pillars, fifteen in a row. |
| 4There were three rows of window frames, facing each other in three tiers. | 4And there were windows in three rows, and light was against light in three ranks. |
| 5All the doors and doorposts had rectangular frames, the openings facing each other in three tiers. | 5And all the doors and posts were square, with the windows: and light was against light in three ranks. |
| 6He made the hall of pillars 75 feet long and 45 feet wide. A portico was in front of the pillars, and a canopy with pillars was in front of them. | 6And he made a porch of pillars; the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits: and the porch was before them: and the other pillars and the thick beam were before them. |
| 7He made the Hall of the Throne where he would judge--the Hall of Judgment. It was paneled with cedar from the floor to the rafters. | 7Then he made a porch for the throne where he might judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from one side of the floor to the other. |
| 8Solomon's own palace where he would live, in the other courtyard behind the hall, was of similar construction. And he made a house like this hall for Pharaoh's daughter, his wife. | 8And his house where he dwelt had another court within the porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh's daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this porch. |
| 9All of these buildings were of costly stones, cut to size and sawed with saws on the inner and outer surfaces, from foundation to coping and from the outside to the great courtyard. | 9All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside toward the great court. |
| 10The foundation was made of large, costly stones 12 and 15 feet long. | 10And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits. |
| 11Above were also costly stones, cut to size, as well as cedar wood. | 11And above were costly stones, after the measures of hewed stones, and cedars. |
| 12Around the great courtyard, as well as the inner courtyard of the LORD's temple and the portico of the temple, were three rows of dressed stone and a row of trimmed cedar beams. | 12And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the LORD, and for the porch of the house. |
| 13King Solomon had Hiram brought from Tyre. | 13And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre. |
| 14He was a widow's son from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a bronze craftsman. Hiram had great skill, understanding, and knowledge to do every kind of bronze work. So he came to King Solomon and carried out all his work. | 14He was a widow's son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work. |
| 15He cast two hollow bronze pillars: each 27 feet high and 18 feet in circumference. | 15For he cast two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits did compass either of them about. |
| 16He also made two capitals of cast bronze to set on top of the pillars; 7 1/2 feet was the height of the first capital, and 7 1/2 feet was also the height of the second capital. | 16And he made two chapiters of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits: |
| 17The capitals on top of the pillars had gratings of latticework, wreaths made of chainwork--seven for the first capital and seven for the second. | 17And nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the other chapiter. |
| 18He made the pillars with two encircling rows of pomegranates on the one grating to cover the capital on top; he did the same for the second capital. | 18And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other chapiter. |
| 19And the capitals on top of the pillars in the portico were shaped like lilies, six feet high. | 19And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily work in the porch, four cubits. |
| 20The capitals on the two pillars were also immediately above the rounded surface next to the grating, and 200 pomegranates were in rows encircling each capital. | 20And the chapiters upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the belly which was by the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows round about upon the other chapiter. |
| 21He set up the pillars at the portico of the sanctuary: he set up the right pillar and named it Jachin; then he set up the left pillar and named it Boaz. | 21And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz. |
| 22The tops of the pillars were shaped like lilies. Then the work of the pillars was completed. | 22And upon the top of the pillars was lily work: so was the work of the pillars finished. |
| 23He made the cast metal reservoir, 15 feet from brim to brim, perfectly round. It was 7 1/2 feet high and 45 feet in circumference. | 23And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about. |
| 24Ornamental gourds encircled it below the brim, 10 every half yard, completely encircling the reservoir. The gourds were cast in two rows when the reservoir was cast. | 24And under the brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast. |
| 25It stood on 12 oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The reservoir was on top of them and all their hindquarters were toward the center. | 25It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward. |
| 26The reservoir was three inches thick, and its rim was fashioned like the brim of a cup or of a lily blossom. It held 11,000 gallons. | 26And it was an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths. |
| 27Then he made 10 bronze water carts. Each water cart was six feet long, six feet wide, and 4 1/2 feet high. | 27And he made ten bases of brass; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth thereof, and three cubits the height of it. |
| 28This was the design of the carts: They had frames; the frames were between the cross-pieces, | 28And the work of the bases was on this manner: they had borders, and the borders were between the ledges: |
| 29and on the frames between the cross-pieces were lions, oxen, and cherubim. On the cross-pieces there was a pedestal above, and below the lions and oxen were wreaths of hanging work. | 29And on the borders that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubims: and upon the ledges there was a base above: and beneath the lions and oxen were certain additions made of thin work. |
| 30Each cart had four bronze wheels with bronze axles. Underneath the four corners of the basin were cast supports, each next to a wreath. | 30And every base had four brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof had undersetters: under the laver were undersetters molten, at the side of every addition. |
| 31And the water cart's opening inside the crown on top was 18 inches wide. The opening was round, made as a pedestal 27 inches wide. On it were carvings, but their frames were square, not round. | 31And the mouth of it within the chapiter and above was a cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders, foursquare, not round. |
| 32There were four wheels under the frames, and the wheel axles were part of the water cart; each wheel was 27 inches tall. | 32And under the borders were four wheels; and the axletrees of the wheels were joined to the base: and the height of a wheel was a cubit and half a cubit. |
| 33The wheels' design was similar to that of chariot wheels: their axles, rims, spokes, and hubs were all of cast metal. | 33And the work of the wheels was like the work of a chariot wheel: their axletrees, and their naves, and their felloes, and their spokes, were all molten. |
| 34Four supports were at the four corners of each water cart; each support was one piece with the water cart. | 34And there were four undersetters to the four corners of one base: and the undersetters were of the very base itself. |
| 35At the top of the cart was a band nine inches high encircling it; also, at the top of the cart, its braces and its frames were one piece with it. | 35And in the top of the base was there a round compass of half a cubit high: and on the top of the base the ledges thereof and the borders thereof were of the same. |
| 36He engraved cherubim, lions, and palm trees on the plates of its braces and on its frames, wherever each had space, with encircling wreaths. | 36For on the plates of the ledges thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubims, lions, and palm trees, according to the proportion of every one, and additions round about. |
| 37In this way he made the 10 water carts using the same casting, dimensions, and shape for all of them. | 37After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size. |
| 38Then he made 10 bronze basins--each basin holding 220 gallons and each was six feet wide--one basin for each of the 10 water carts. | 38Then made he ten lavers of brass: one laver contained forty baths: and every laver was four cubits: and upon every one of the ten bases one laver. |
| 39He set five water carts on the right side of the temple and five on the left side. He put the reservoir near the right side of the temple toward the southeast. | 39And he put five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward over against the south. |
| 40Then Hiram made the basins, the shovels, and the sprinkling basins. So Hiram finished all the work that he was doing for King Solomon on the LORD's temple: | 40And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basons. So Hiram made an end of doing all the work that he made king Solomon for the house of the LORD: |
| 41two pillars; bowls for the capitals that were on top of the two pillars; the two gratings for covering both bowls of the capitals that were on top of the pillars; | 41The two pillars, and the two bowls of the chapiters that were on the top of the two pillars; and the two networks, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars; |
| 42the 400 pomegranates for the two gratings (two rows of pomegranates for each grating covering both capitals' bowls on top of the pillars); | 42And four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, even two rows of pomegranates for one network, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that were upon the pillars; |
| 43the 10 water carts; the 10 basins on the water carts; | 43And the ten bases, and ten lavers on the bases; |
| 44the reservoir; the 12 oxen underneath the reservoir; | 44And one sea, and twelve oxen under the sea; |
| 45and the pots, shovels, and sprinkling basins. All the utensils that Hiram made for King Solomon at the LORD's temple were made of burnished bronze. | 45And the pots, and the shovels, and the basons: and all these vessels, which Hiram made to king Solomon for the house of the LORD, were of bright brass. |
| 46The king had them cast in clay molds in the Jordan Valley between Succoth and Zarethan. | 46In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarthan. |
| 47Solomon left all the utensils unweighed because there were so many; the weight of the bronze was not determined. | 47And Solomon left all the vessels unweighed, because they were exceeding many: neither was the weight of the brass found out. |
| 48Solomon also made all the equipment in the LORD's temple: the gold altar; the gold table that the bread of the Presence was placed on; | 48And Solomon made all the vessels that pertained unto the house of the LORD: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, whereupon the shewbread was, |
| 49the pure gold lampstands in front of the inner sanctuary, five on the right and five on the left; the gold flowers, lamps, and tongs; | 49And the candlesticks of pure gold, five on the right side, and five on the left, before the oracle, with the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold, |
| 50the pure gold ceremonial bowls, wick trimmers, sprinkling basins, ladles, and firepans; and the gold hinges for the doors of the inner temple (that is, the most holy place) and for the doors of the temple sanctuary. | 50And the bowls, and the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, to wit, of the temple. |
| 51So all the work King Solomon did in the LORD's temple was completed. Then Solomon brought in the consecrated things of his father David--the silver, the gold, and the utensils--and put them in the treasuries of the LORD's temple. | 51So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the house of the LORD. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the house of the LORD. |
