3Judah's sons: Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by Bath-shua the Canaanite woman. Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the LORD's sight, so He put him to death. 3Judah had three sons from Bathshua, a Canaanite woman. Their names were Er, Onan, and Shelah. But the LORD saw that the oldest son, Er, was a wicked man, so he killed him.
4Judah's daughter-in-law Tamar bore Perez and Zerah to him. Judah had five sons in all. 4Later Judah had twin sons from Tamar, his widowed daughter-in-law. Their names were Perez and Zerah. So Judah had five sons in all.
5Perez's sons: Hezron and Hamul. 5The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
6Zerah's sons: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara--five in all. 6The sons of Zerah were Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Darda —five in all.
7Carmi's son: Achar, who brought trouble on Israel when he was unfaithful by taking the things set apart for destruction. 7The son of Carmi (a descendant of Zimri) was Achan, who brought disaster on Israel by taking plunder that had been set apart for the LORD.
8Ethan's son: Azariah. 8The son of Ethan was Azariah. From Judah’s Grandson Hezron to David
9Hezron's sons, who were born to him: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai. 9The sons of Hezron were Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb.
10Ram fathered Amminadab, and Amminadab fathered Nahshon, a leader of Judah's descendants. 10Ram was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, a leader of Judah.
11Nahshon fathered Salma, and Salma fathered Boaz. 11Nahshon was the father of Salmon. Salmon was the father of Boaz.
12Boaz fathered Obed, and Obed fathered Jesse. 12Boaz was the father of Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse.
13Jesse fathered Eliab, his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea third, 13Jesse’s first son was Eliab, his second was Abinadab, his third was Shimea,
14Nethanel fourth, Raddai fifth, 14his fourth was Nethanel, his fifth was Raddai,
15Ozem sixth, and David seventh. 15his sixth was Ozem, and his seventh was David.
16Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah's three sons: Abishai, Joab, and Asahel. 16Their sisters were named Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah had three sons named Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.
17Amasa's mother was Abigail, and his father was Jether the Ishmaelite. 17Abigail married a man named Jether, an Ishmaelite, and they had a son named Amasa. Other Descendants of Hezron
18Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah and by Jerioth. These were Azubah's sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon. 18Hezron’s son Caleb had sons from his wife Azubah and from Jerioth. Her sons were named Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, and she bore Hur to him. 19After Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrathah, and they had a son named Hur.
20Hur fathered Uri, and Uri fathered Bezalel. 20Hur was the father of Uri. Uri was the father of Bezalel.
21After this, Hezron slept with the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead. Hezron had married her when he was 60 years old, and she bore Segub to him. 21When Hezron was sixty years old, he married Gilead’s sister, the daughter of Makir. They had a son named Segub.
22Segub fathered Jair, who possessed 23 towns in the land of Gilead. 22Segub was the father of Jair, who ruled twenty-three towns in the land of Gilead.
23But Geshur and Aram captured Jair's Villages along with Kenath and its villages--60 towns. All these were the sons of Machir father of Gilead. 23(But Geshur and Aram captured the Towns of Jair and also took Kenath and its sixty surrounding villages.) All these were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead.
24After Hezron's death in Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah bore Ashhur to him. He was the father of Tekoa. 24Soon after Hezron died in the town of Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah gave birth to a son named Ashhur (the father of Tekoa). Descendants of Hezron’s Son Jerahmeel
25The sons of Jerahmeel, Hezron's firstborn: Ram, his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah. 25The sons of Jerahmeel, the oldest son of Hezron, were Ram (the firstborn), Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
26Jerahmeel had another wife named Atarah, who was the mother of Onam. 26Jerahmeel had a second wife named Atarah. She was the mother of Onam.
27The sons of Ram, Jerahmeel's firstborn: Maaz, Jamin, and Eker. 27The sons of Ram, the oldest son of Jerahmeel, were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28Onam's sons: Shammai and Jada. Shammai's sons: Nadab and Abishur. 28The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai were Nadab and Abishur.
29Abishur's wife was named Abihail, who bore Ahban and Molid to him. 29The sons of Abishur and his wife Abihail were Ahban and Molid.
30Nadab's sons: Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children. 30The sons of Nadab were Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children,
31Appaim's son: Ishi. Ishi's son: Sheshan. Sheshan's descendant: Ahlai. 31but Appaim had a son named Ishi. The son of Ishi was Sheshan. Sheshan had a descendant named Ahlai.
32The sons of Jada, brother of Shammai: Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children. 32The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother, were Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children,
33Jonathan's sons: Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel. 33but Jonathan had two sons named Peleth and Zaza. These were all descendants of Jerahmeel.
34Sheshan had no sons, only daughters, but he did have an Egyptian servant whose name was Jarha. 34Sheshan had no sons, though he did have daughters. He also had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.
35Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore Attai to him. 35Sheshan gave one of his daughters to be the wife of Jarha, and they had a son named Attai.
36Attai fathered Nathan, and Nathan fathered Zabad. 36Attai was the father of Nathan. Nathan was the father of Zabad.
37Zabad fathered Ephlal, and Ephlal fathered Obed. 37Zabad was the father of Ephlal. Ephlal was the father of Obed.
38Obed fathered Jehu, and Jehu fathered Azariah. 38Obed was the father of Jehu. Jehu was the father of Azariah.
39Azariah fathered Helez, and Helez fathered Elasah. 39Azariah was the father of Helez. Helez was the father of Eleasah.
40Elasah fathered Sismai, and Sismai fathered Shallum. 40Eleasah was the father of Sismai. Sismai was the father of Shallum.
41Shallum fathered Jekamiah, and Jekamiah fathered Elishama. 41Shallum was the father of Jekamiah. Jekamiah was the father of Elishama. Descendants of Hezron’s Son Caleb
42The sons of Caleb brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha, his firstborn, fathered Ziph, and Mareshah, his second son, fathered Hebron. 42The descendants of Caleb, the brother of Jerahmeel, included Mesha (the firstborn), who became the father of Ziph. Caleb’s descendants also included the sons of Mareshah, the father of Hebron.
43Hebron's sons: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema. 43The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44Shema fathered Raham, who fathered Jorkeam, and Rekem fathered Shammai. 44Shema was the father of Raham. Raham was the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai.
45Shammai's son was Maon, and Maon fathered Beth-zur. 45The son of Shammai was Maon. Maon was the father of Beth-zur.
46Caleb's concubine Ephah was the mother of Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran fathered Gazez. 46Caleb’s concubine Ephah gave birth to Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.
47Jahdai's sons: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph. 47The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48Caleb's concubine Maacah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah. 48Another of Caleb’s concubines, Maacah, gave birth to Sheber and Tirhanah.
49She was also the mother of Shaaph, Madmannah's father, and of Sheva, the father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb's daughter was Achsah. 49She also gave birth to Shaaph (the father of Madmannah) and Sheva (the father of Macbenah and Gibea). Caleb also had a daughter named Acsah.
50These were Caleb's descendants. The sons of Hur, Ephrathah's firstborn: Shobal fathered Kiriath-jearim; 50These were all descendants of Caleb. Descendants of Caleb’s Son Hur The sons of Hur, the oldest son of Caleb’s wife Ephrathah, were Shobal (the founder of Kiriath-jearim),
51Salma fathered Bethlehem, and Hareph fathered Beth-gader. 51Salma (the founder of Bethlehem), and Hareph (the founder of Beth-gader).
52These were the descendants of Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim: Haroeh, half of the Manahathites,52The descendants of Shobal (the founder of Kiriath-jearim) were Haroeh, half the Manahathites,
53and the families of Kiriath-jearim--the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. The Zorathites and Eshtaolites descended from these. 53and the families of Kiriath-jearim—the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites, from whom came the people of Zorah and Eshtaol.
54Salma's sons: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, and half of the Manahathites, the Zorites, 54The descendants of Salma were the people of Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, the other half of the Manahathites, the Zorites,
55and the families of scribes who lived in Jabez--the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of Rechab's family. 55and the families of scribes living at Jabez—the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. All these were Kenites who descended from Hammath, the father of the family of Recab.
