The LORD told Moses, 1The LORD spoke to Moses:
"This is the law concerning those who have infectious skin diseases, after they have been cleansed: 2"This is the law of the diseased person on the day of his purification, when he is brought to the priest.
The priest is to go outside the camp and examine the infectious skin disease to confirm that the person has been healed. 3The priest is to go outside the camp and examine the infection. If the infection of the diseased person has been healed,
If he has been healed, then the priest is to command that two live and clean birds, some cedar wood, some crimson thread, and hyssop be brought for the one cleansed. 4then the priest will command that two live clean birds, a piece of cedar wood, a scrap of crimson fabric, and some twigs of hyssop be taken up for the one being cleansed.
Then the priest is to command that one bird be slaughtered on an earthen vessel over flowing water. 5The priest will then command that one bird be slaughtered into a clay vessel over fresh water.
He is to take the live bird, the cedar wood, the crimson thread, and the hyssop, and dip them together in the blood of the bird that had been slaughtered over the flowing water. 6Then he is to take the live bird along with the piece of cedar wood, the scrap of crimson fabric, and the twigs of hyssop, and he is to dip them and the live bird in the blood of the bird slaughtered over the fresh water,
He is to sprinkle the blood seven times on the person with the infectious skin disease and then pronounce him clean. Then he is to release the live bird into the open fields. 7and sprinkle it seven times on the one being cleansed from the disease, pronounce him clean, and send the live bird away over the open countryside.
The person who is clean is to wash his clothes, shave all his hair, and bathe in water, after which he is to be declared clean. Then he can be brought back to the camp, but he is to remain outside his tent for seven days. 8"The one being cleansed must then wash his clothes, shave off all his hair, and bathe in water, and so be clean. Then afterward he may enter the camp, but he must live outside his tent seven days.
On the seventh day, he is to shave the hair on his head, chin, back, and eyebrows. After he has shaved all his hair, washed his clothes, and bathed himself with water, then he will be clean."9When the seventh day comes he must shave all his hair--his head, his beard, his eyebrows, all his hair--and he must wash his clothes, bathe his body in water, and so be clean.
"On the eighth day, he is to take two lambs without defect, a one year old ewe lamb without defect, one third of a measure of fine flour mixed with olive oil for a meal offering, and one log of oil. 10"On the eighth day he must take two flawless male lambs, one flawless yearling female lamb, three-tenths of an ephah of choice wheat flour as a grain offering mixed with olive oil, and one log of olive oil,
The priest who will pronounce him clean is to present the person to be cleansed and these offerings in the LORD's presence at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 11and the priest who pronounces him clean will have the man who is being cleansed stand along with these offerings before the LORD at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.
The priest is to take one of the lambs and present it as a guilt offering, along with one log of olive oil, which he is to wave as a raised offering in the LORD's presence. 12"The priest is to take one male lamb and present it for a guilt offering along with the log of olive oil and present them as a wave offering before the LORD.
Then he is to slaughter the lamb in the place where he slaughtered the sin and burnt offerings—that is, at a place in the sanctuary. Just as the sin offering is for the priest, so also is the guilt offering. It's a most holy thing.13He must then slaughter the male lamb in the place where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered, in the sanctuary, because, like the sin offering, the guilt offering belongs to the priest; it is most holy.
"Then the priest is to take some of the blood from the guilt offering and place it on the right earlobe of the person to be cleansed, on his right thumb, and on his right great toe. 14Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.
Then the priest is to take some of the log of olive oil and pour it into his own left hand. 15The priest will then take some of the log of olive oil and pour it into his own left hand.
The priest is to dip his right finger in the olive oil that is in his left palm and sprinkle some of the olive oil with his finger seven times in the LORD's presence.16Then the priest is to dip his right forefinger into the olive oil that is in his left hand, and sprinkle some of the olive oil with his finger seven times before the LORD.
"As to the remainder of the olive oil in his palm, he is to place some on the right earlobe of the person to be cleansed, on his right thumb, on his right great toe, and on the blood of the guilt offering. 17The priest will then put some of the rest of the olive oil that is in his hand on the right earlobe of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on the blood of the guilt offering,
Then he is to place the rest of the oil in his palm on the head of the person to be cleansed, thus making atonement for him in the LORD's presence. 18and the remainder of the olive oil that is in his hand the priest is to put on the head of the one being cleansed. So the priest is to make atonement for him before the LORD.
This is how the priest is to present the sin offering to make atonement for the person being cleansed of his impurity. After this, he is to slaughter the whole burnt offering. 19"The priest must then perform the sin offering and make atonement for the one being cleansed from his impurity. After that he is to slaughter the burnt offering,
The priest is to offer both the whole burnt and the grain offerings on the altar. After the priest makes atonement for him, he will be clean."20and the priest is to offer the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar. So the priest is to make atonement for him and he will be clean.
"If the offeror is poor and cannot afford the regular offering, then he is to take one lamb for a guilt offering that will be presented in the form of a wave offering to atone for him, one tenth of a measure of fine flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, one log of olive oil, 21"If the person is poor and does not have sufficient means, he must take one male lamb as a guilt offering for a wave offering to make atonement for himself, one-tenth of an ephah of choice wheat flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, a log of olive oil,
and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, whichever he can afford. One is for a sin offering and the other is for a whole burnt offering.22and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, which are within his means. One will be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.
"On the eighth day, he is to bring them for cleansing to the priest in the LORD's presence at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 23"On the eighth day he must bring them for his purification to the priest at the entrance of the Meeting Tent before the LORD,
The priest is to take the lamb for a guilt offering and the olive oil and wave them as a raised offering in the LORD's presence. 24and the priest is to take the male lamb of the guilt offering and the log of olive oil and wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.
Then he is to take the lamb for the guilt offering and place some blood from the guilt offering on the right earlobe of the person to be cleansed, on his right thumb, and on his right great toe. 25Then he is to slaughter the male lamb of the guilt offering, and the priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.
Then the priest is to pour olive oil into his left palm 26The priest will then pour some of the olive oil into his own left hand,
and use his right finger to sprinkle oil from his left palm seven times in the LORD's presence. 27and sprinkle some of the olive oil that is in his left hand with his right forefinger seven times before the LORD.
The priest is to place oil from his palm on the right earlobe of the person being cleansed, on his right thumb, on his right great toe, and where the blood for the guilt offering is poured.28Then the priest is to put some of the olive oil that is in his hand on the right earlobe of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on the place of the blood of the guilt offering,
"As to the remainder of the oil in his palm, the priest is to use it to anoint the head of the person to be cleansed, in order to make atonement for him in the LORD's presence. 29and the remainder of the olive oil that is in the hand of the priest he is to put on the head of the one being cleansed to make atonement for him before the LORD.
Then he is to offer one of the turtledoves or the young pigeons, whichever he can afford. 30"He will then make one of the turtledoves or young pigeons, which are within his means,
Based on what he can afford, one is for a sin offering and the other is for a whole burnt offering. Along with the grain offering, the priest is to make atonement for the person to be cleansed in the LORD's presence. 31a sin offering and the other a burnt offering along with the grain offering. So the priest is to make atonement for the one being cleansed before the LORD.
This is the regulation concerning one who has an infectious skin disease but who cannot afford his cleansing."32This is the law of the one in whom there is a diseased infection, who does not have sufficient means for his purification."
The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron: 33The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron:
"When you enter the land of Canaan that I'm about to give you as your own possession, and if I put a contagion in a house in the land that you possess, 34"When you enter the land of Canaan which I am about to give to you for a possession, and I put a diseased infection in a house in the land you are to possess,
then the owner of the house is to approach the priest and tell him, 'There appears to be a contagion in the house.'35then whoever owns the house must come and declare to the priest, 'Something like an infection is visible to me in the house.'
"The priest is to command that the house be cleared before he comes to examine the contagion so that not everything in the house becomes unclean. After this, the priest is to enter the house and examine it. 36Then the priest will command that the house be cleared before the priest enters to examine the infection so that everything in the house does not become unclean, and afterward the priest will enter to examine the house.
He is to determine if the contagion is indeed on the walls of the house, with greenish or reddish streaks, and to determine if it appears to be deeper than the surface of the wall. 37He is to examine the infection, and if the infection in the walls of the house consists of yellowish green or reddish eruptions, and it appears to be deeper than the surface of the wall,
The priest is to leave through the entrance to the house and seal the house for seven days. 38then the priest is to go out of the house to the doorway of the house and quarantine the house for seven days.
He is to return after seven days to examine it. If the contagion has spread to the walls of the house, 39The priest must return on the seventh day and examine it, and if the infection has spread in the walls of the house,
then the priest is to command that they take out the contaminated stones and discard them in an unclean place outside the city.40then the priest is to command that the stones that had the infection in them be pulled and thrown outside the city into an unclean place.
"Now as for the house, they are to scrape off inside and outside the house and then discard the torn out plaster in an unclean place outside the city. 41Then he is to have the house scraped all around on the inside, and the plaster which is scraped off must be dumped outside the city into an unclean place.
They are then to take other stones and bring them to replace those stones. Lastly, they are to replaster the house."42They are then to take other stones and replace those stones, and he is to take other plaster and replaster the house.
"If the contagion returns and spreads throughout the house after the stones have been removed, after the house has been scraped out, and after it has been re-coated, 43"If the infection returns and breaks out in the house after he has pulled out the stones, scraped the house, and it is replastered,
and the priest comes, undertakes an examination, and determines that the contagion has spread in the house, it's a chronic fungal infection in the house. It's unclean. 44the priest is to come and examine it, and if the infection has spread in the house, it is a malignant disease in the house. It is unclean.
He is to pull down the house, its stones, its lumber, and all the plaster on the house, and discard them in an unclean place outside the city. 45He must tear down the house, its stones, its wood, and all the plaster of the house, and bring all of it outside the city to an unclean place.
Moreover, whoever enters the house during the time it was isolated is to be considered unclean until the evening. 46Anyone who enters the house all the days the priest has quarantined it will be unclean until evening.
Whoever has slept in the house is to wash his clothes, along with whoever has eaten in the house.47Anyone who lies down in the house must wash his clothes. Anyone who eats in the house must wash his clothes.
"But if the priest comes in to conduct an examination and determines that the contagion has not spread throughout the house after the house has been repaired, then the priest may declare the house clean, because the contagion has been cleansed. 48"If, however, the priest enters and examines it, and the infection has not spread in the house after the house has been replastered, then the priest is to pronounce the house clean because the infection has been healed.
In order to cleanse the house, he is to take two birds, some cedar wood, two crimson threads, and some hyssop. 49Then he is to take two birds, a piece of cedar wood, a scrap of crimson fabric, and some twigs of hyssop to decontaminate the house,
Then he is to slaughter one bird on an earthen vessel over flowing water. 50and he is to slaughter one bird into a clay vessel over fresh water.
He is to take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the two crimson threads, and the live bird, and dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird over flowing water. Then he is to sprinkle the house seven times. 51He must then take the piece of cedar wood, the twigs of hyssop, the scrap of crimson fabric, and the live bird, and dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird and in the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times.
He is to clean the house with the blood of the bird over flowing water, including cleansing the live bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop, and the crimson thread. 52So he is to decontaminate the house with the blood of the bird, the fresh water, the live bird, the piece of cedar wood, the twigs of hyssop, and the scrap of crimson fabric,
Then he is to send the bird away, outside the city, facing the fields, to make atonement for the house. Then it is to be considered clean.53and he is to send the live bird away outside the city into the open countryside. So he is to make atonement for the house and it will be clean.
"This is the law for every contagion of infectious skin disease and scabs, 54"This is the law for all diseased infections, for scall,
for fungal infections on clothing or in a house, 55for the diseased garment, for the house,
and for swelling of the skin, scabs, and bright spots, 56for the swelling, for the scab, and for the bright spot,
to distinguish when it's unclean and clean. This is the law for infectious skin diseases."57to teach when something is unclean and when it is clean. This is the law for dealing with infectious disease."
