Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.1Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty.
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:2He wraps Himself in light as with a garment; He stretches out the heavens like a tent,
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:3laying the beams of His chambers in the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind.
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:4He makes the winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants.
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.5He set the earth on its foundations, never to be moved.
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.6You covered it with the deep like a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.7At Your rebuke the waters fled; at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away—
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.8the mountains rose and the valleys sank to the place You assigned for them—
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.9You set a boundary they cannot cross, that they may never again cover the earth.
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.10He sends forth springs in the valleys; they flow between the mountains.
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.11They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.12The birds of the air nest beside the springs; they sing among the branches.
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.13He waters the mountains from His chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of His works.
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;14He makes the grass grow for the livestock and provides crops for man to cultivate, bringing forth food from the earth:
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.15wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil that makes his face to shine, and bread that sustains his heart.
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;16The trees of the LORD have their fill, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted,
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.17where the birds build their nests; the stork makes her home in the cypresses.
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.18The high mountains are for the wild goats, the cliffs a refuge for the rock badgers.
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.19He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows when to set.
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.20You bring darkness, and it becomes night, when all the beasts of the forest prowl.
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.21The young lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.22The sun rises, and they withdraw; they lie down in their dens.
Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.23Man goes forth to his work and to his labor until evening.
O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.24How many are Your works, O LORD! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures.
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.25Here is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with creatures beyond number, living things both great and small.
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.26There the ships pass, and Leviathan, which You formed to frolic there.
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.27All creatures look to You to give them their food in due season.
That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.28When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.29When You hide Your face, they are terrified; when You take away their breath, they die and return to dust.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.30When You send Your Spirit, they are created, and You renew the face of the earth.
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.31May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in His works.
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.32He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smolder.
I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.33I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.34May my meditation be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the LORD.
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.35May sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Hallelujah!
