Psalm 90
KJV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNET Bible
A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.1A prayer of Moses, the man of God. O Lord, you have been our protector through all generations!
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.2Even before the mountains came into existence, or you brought the world into being, you were the eternal God.
Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.3You make mankind return to the dust, and say, "Return, O people!"
For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.4Yes, in your eyes a thousand years are like yesterday that quickly passes, or like one of the divisions of the nighttime.
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.5You bring their lives to an end and they "fall asleep." In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;
In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.6in the morning it glistens and sprouts up; at evening time it withers and dries up.
For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.7Yes, we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.8You are aware of our sins; you even know about our hidden sins.
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.9Yes, throughout all our days we experience your raging fury; the years of our lives pass quickly, like a sigh.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.10The days of our lives add up to seventy years, or eighty, if one is especially strong. But even one's best years are marred by trouble and oppression. Yes, they pass quickly and we fly away.
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.11Who can really fathom the intensity of your anger? Your raging fury causes people to fear you.
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.12So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely.
Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.13Turn back toward us, O LORD! How long must this suffering last? Have pity on your servants!
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.14Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love! Then we will shout for joy and be happy all our days!
Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.15Make us happy in proportion to the days you have afflicted us, in proportion to the years we have experienced trouble!
Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.16May your servants see your work! May their sons see your majesty!
And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.17May our sovereign God extend his favor to us! Make our endeavors successful! Yes, make them successful!
