1Then the second lot fell to Simeon, to the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families, and their inheritance was in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Judah.1The second lottery went to the tribe of Simeon according to its families. Its inheritance was enclosed within the inheritance of the tribe of Judah.
2So they had as their inheritance Beersheba or Sheba and Moladah,2Its inheritance included Beer-sheba (also known as Shebah), Moladah,
3and Hazar-shual and Balah and Ezem,3Hazar-shual, Balah, Ezem,
4and Eltolad and Bethul and Hormah,4Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah,
5and Ziklag and Beth-marcaboth and Hazar-susah,5Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susah,
6and Beth-lebaoth and Sharuhen; thirteen cities with their villages;6Beth-lebaoth, and Sharuhen, for a total of thirteen towns and villages.
7Ain, Rimmon and Ether and Ashan; four cities with their villages;7Also included were Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan, for a total of four towns and villages.
8and all the villages which were around these cities as far as Baalath-beer, Ramah of the Negev. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families.8Also included were all the surrounding villages as far as Baalath-beer, in Ramah of the Negev. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Simeon, according to its families.
9The inheritance of the sons of Simeon was taken from the portion of the sons of Judah, for the share of the sons of Judah was too large for them; so the sons of Simeon received an inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance.9The inheritance of the tribe of Simeon was contained in part of the territory of Judah; that is, because the portion allotted to the tribe of Judah was large enough for both tribes, the tribe of Simeon obtained an inheritance within that of Judah.
10Now the third lot came up for the sons of Zebulun according to their families. And the territory of their inheritance was as far as Sarid.10The third lottery went to the tribe of Zebulun according to its families. The boundary of its inheritance extended to Sarid,
11Then their border went up to the west and to Maralah, it then touched Dabbesheth and reached to the brook that is before Jokneam.11then turned westward toward Maralah, proceeding to Dabbesheth, and then to the valley that is east of Jokneam.
12Then it turned from Sarid to the east toward the sunrise as far as the border of Chisloth-tabor, and it proceeded to Daberath and up to Japhia.12From Sarid it proceeded back eastward, creating a sunrise boundary at Chisloth-tabor, and proceeded from there to Daberath, then to Japhia,
13From there it continued eastward toward the sunrise to Gath-hepher, to Eth-kazin, and it proceeded to Rimmon which stretches to Neah.13from which it proceeded toward the east to Gath-hepher, then to Eth-kazin, then going to Rimmon, where it turned toward Neah.
14The border circled around it on the north to Hannathon, and it ended at the valley of Iphtahel.14On the north of Neah, the boundary turned toward Hannathon, terminating at Iphtah-el Valley
15Included also were Kattah and Nahalal and Shimron and Idalah and Bethlehem; twelve cities with their villages.15and Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem, for a total of twelve towns and villages.
16This was the inheritance of the sons of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.16These towns and villages are the inheritance of the tribe of Zebulun according to its families.
17The fourth lot fell to Issachar, to the sons of Issachar according to their families.17The fourth lottery went to the tribe of Issachar according to its families.
18Their territory was to Jezreel and included Chesulloth and Shunem,18The territorial allotment included Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem,
19and Hapharaim and Shion and Anaharath,19Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
20and Rabbith and Kishion and Ebez,20Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez,
21and Remeth and En-gannim and En-haddah and Beth-pazzez.21Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah, Beth-pazzez,
22The border reached to Tabor and Shahazumah and Beth-shemesh, and their border ended at the Jordan; sixteen cities with their villages.22with the boundary including Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh. The boundary terminated at the Jordan River, for a total of sixteen towns and villages.
23This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar according to their families, the cities with their villages.23These towns and villages comprise the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar, according to its families.
24Now the fifth lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families.24The fifth lottery went to the tribe of Asher according to its families.
25Their territory was Helkath and Hali and Beten and Achshaph,25The territorial boundary included Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph,
26and Allammelech and Amad and Mishal; and it reached to Carmel on the west and to Shihor-libnath.26Allammelech, Amad, and Mishal, and on the west Carmel and Shihor-libnath,
27It turned toward the east to Beth-dagon and reached to Zebulun, and to the valley of Iphtahel northward to Beth-emek and Neiel; then it proceeded on north to Cabul,27then proceeded east to Beth-dagon. It proceeded to Zebulun and the Iphtah-el Valley, turned north to Beth-emek and Neiel, then proceeded north to Cabul,
28and Ebron and Rehob and Hammon and Kanah, as far as Great Sidon.28Ebron, Rehob, Hammon, and Kanah as far as Great Sidon.
29The border turned to Ramah and to the fortified city of Tyre; then the border turned to Hosah, and it ended at the sea by the region of Achzib.29There the boundary turned toward Ramah, reaching to the fortress city of Tyre and turned to Hosah, where it terminated at the Mediterranean Sea. Also included were Mahalab,? Achzib,
30Included also were Ummah, and Aphek and Rehob; twenty-two cities with their villages.30Ummah, Aphek, and Rehob, for a total of 22 towns and villages.
31This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages.31These towns and villages are the inheritance of the tribe of Asher according to its families.
32The sixth lot fell to the sons of Naphtali; to the sons of Naphtali according to their families.32The sixth lottery went to the tribe of Naphtali according to its families.
33Their border was from Heleph, from the oak in Zaanannim and Adami-nekeb and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum, and it ended at the Jordan.33The territorial boundary proceeded from Heleph, the oak in Zaanannim, and Adami-nekeb, and Jabneel as far as Lakkum, terminating at the Jordan River.
34Then the border turned westward to Aznoth-tabor and proceeded from there to Hukkok; and it reached to Zebulun on the south and touched Asher on the west, and to Judah at the Jordan toward the east.34There the boundary proceeded west to Aznoth-tabor and then to Hukkok, reaching Zebulun at the south, Asher on the west, and Judah on the east at the Jordan River.
35The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer and Hammath, Rakkath and Chinnereth,35Also included were the fortress towns of Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth,
36and Adamah and Ramah and Hazor,36Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,
37and Kedesh and Edrei and En-hazor,37Kedesh, Edrei, En-hazor,
38and Yiron and Migdal-el, Horem and Beth-anath and Beth-shemesh; nineteen cities with their villages.38Iron, Migdal-el, Horem, Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh, for a total of nineteen towns and their villages.
39This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali according to their families, the cities with their villages.39These towns and villages comprised the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali according to its families.
40The seventh lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families.40The seventh lottery went to the tribe of Dan according to its families.
41The territory of their inheritance was Zorah and Eshtaol and Ir-shemesh,41The territorial allotment included Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-shemesh,
42and Shaalabbin and Aijalon and Ithlah,42Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah,
43and Elon and Timnah and Ekron,43Elon, Timnah, Ekron,
44and Eltekeh and Gibbethon and Baalath,44Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath,
45and Jehud and Bene-berak and Gath-rimmon,45Jehud, Bene-berak, Gath-rimmon,
46and Me-jarkon and Rakkon, with the territory over against Joppa.46Me-jarkon, and Rakkon at the border near Joppa.
47The territory of the sons of Dan proceeded beyond them; for the sons of Dan went up and fought with Leshem and captured it. Then they struck it with the edge of the sword and possessed it and settled in it; and they called Leshem Dan after the name of Dan their father.47Later, when the descendants of Dan lost their territory, they went up and attacked Leshem. After they captured it and executed its inhabitants, they took possession of it and settled there, renaming the city of Leshem to Dan in memory of their ancestor Dan.
48This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages.48These towns and villages comprised the inheritance of the tribe of Dan according to their families.
49When they finished apportioning the land for inheritance by its borders, the sons of Israel gave an inheritance in their midst to Joshua the son of Nun.49When the Israelis had completed distribution of the various territories of the land as inheritances, they provided an inheritance to Nun's son Joshua.
50In accordance with the command of the LORD they gave him the city for which he asked, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. So he built the city and settled in it.50By a command from the LORD, they allocated the town that he requested, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He rebuilt the town and settled there.
51These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the households of the tribes of the sons of Israel distributed by lot in Shiloh before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting. So they finished dividing the land.51These are the inheritances that Eleazar the priest, Nun's son Joshua, and the heads of the families of the Israeli tribes distributed by lot in the LORD's presence at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. So they finished dividing the land.
