1Then the second lot fell to Simeon, to the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families, and their inheritance was in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Judah.1The second lot came out for the tribe of Simeon according to its clans. Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah.
2So they had as their inheritance Beersheba or Sheba and Moladah,2It included: Beersheba (or Sheba), Moladah,
3and Hazar-shual and Balah and Ezem,3Hazar Shual, Balah, Ezem,
4and Eltolad and Bethul and Hormah,4Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah,
5and Ziklag and Beth-marcaboth and Hazar-susah,5Ziklag, Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susah,
6and Beth-lebaoth and Sharuhen; thirteen cities with their villages;6Beth Lebaoth and Sharuhen--thirteen towns and their villages;
7Ain, Rimmon and Ether and Ashan; four cities with their villages;7Ain, Rimmon, Ether and Ashan--four towns and their villages--
8and all the villages which were around these cities as far as Baalath-beer, Ramah of the Negev. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families.8and all the villages around these towns as far as Baalath Beer (Ramah in the Negev). This was the inheritance of the tribe of the Simeonites, according to its clans.
9The inheritance of the sons of Simeon was taken from the portion of the sons of Judah, for the share of the sons of Judah was too large for them; so the sons of Simeon received an inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance.9The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah, because Judah's portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah.
10Now the third lot came up for the sons of Zebulun according to their families. And the territory of their inheritance was as far as Sarid.10The third lot came up for Zebulun according to its clans: The boundary of their inheritance went as far as Sarid.
11Then their border went up to the west and to Maralah, it then touched Dabbesheth and reached to the brook that is before Jokneam.11Going west it ran to Maralah, touched Dabbesheth, and extended to the ravine near Jokneam.
12Then it turned from Sarid to the east toward the sunrise as far as the border of Chisloth-tabor, and it proceeded to Daberath and up to Japhia.12It turned east from Sarid toward the sunrise to the territory of Kisloth Tabor and went on to Daberath and up to Japhia.
13From there it continued eastward toward the sunrise to Gath-hepher, to Eth-kazin, and it proceeded to Rimmon which stretches to Neah.13Then it continued eastward to Gath Hepher and Eth Kazin; it came out at Rimmon and turned toward Neah.
14The border circled around it on the north to Hannathon, and it ended at the valley of Iphtahel.14There the boundary went around on the north to Hannathon and ended at the Valley of Iphtah El.
15Included also were Kattah and Nahalal and Shimron and Idalah and Bethlehem; twelve cities with their villages.15Included were Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah and Bethlehem. There were twelve towns and their villages.
16This was the inheritance of the sons of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.16These towns and their villages were the inheritance of Zebulun, according to its clans.
17The fourth lot fell to Issachar, to the sons of Issachar according to their families.17The fourth lot came out for Issachar according to its clans.
18Their territory was to Jezreel and included Chesulloth and Shunem,18Their territory included: Jezreel, Kesulloth, Shunem,
19and Hapharaim and Shion and Anaharath,19Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
20and Rabbith and Kishion and Ebez,20Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez,
21and Remeth and En-gannim and En-haddah and Beth-pazzez.21Remeth, En Gannim, En Haddah and Beth Pazzez.
22The border reached to Tabor and Shahazumah and Beth-shemesh, and their border ended at the Jordan; sixteen cities with their villages.22The boundary touched Tabor, Shahazumah and Beth Shemesh, and ended at the Jordan. There were sixteen towns and their villages.
23This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar according to their families, the cities with their villages.23These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar, according to its clans.
24Now the fifth lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families.24The fifth lot came out for the tribe of Asher according to its clans.
25Their territory was Helkath and Hali and Beten and Achshaph,25Their territory included: Helkath, Hali, Beten, Akshaph,
26and Allammelech and Amad and Mishal; and it reached to Carmel on the west and to Shihor-libnath.26Allammelek, Amad and Mishal. On the west the boundary touched Carmel and Shihor Libnath.
27It turned toward the east to Beth-dagon and reached to Zebulun, and to the valley of Iphtahel northward to Beth-emek and Neiel; then it proceeded on north to Cabul,27It then turned east toward Beth Dagon, touched Zebulun and the Valley of Iphtah El, and went north to Beth Emek and Neiel, passing Kabul on the left.
28and Ebron and Rehob and Hammon and Kanah, as far as Great Sidon.28It went to Abdon, Rehob, Hammon and Kanah, as far as Greater Sidon.
29The border turned to Ramah and to the fortified city of Tyre; then the border turned to Hosah, and it ended at the sea by the region of Achzib.29The boundary then turned back toward Ramah and went to the fortified city of Tyre, turned toward Hosah and came out at the Mediterranean Sea in the region of Akzib,
30Included also were Ummah, and Aphek and Rehob; twenty-two cities with their villages.30Ummah, Aphek and Rehob. There were twenty-two towns and their villages.
31This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages.31These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Asher, according to its clans.
32The sixth lot fell to the sons of Naphtali; to the sons of Naphtali according to their families.32The sixth lot came out for Naphtali according to its clans:
33Their border was from Heleph, from the oak in Zaanannim and Adami-nekeb and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum, and it ended at the Jordan.33Their boundary went from Heleph and the large tree in Zaanannim, passing Adami Nekeb and Jabneel to Lakkum and ending at the Jordan.
34Then the border turned westward to Aznoth-tabor and proceeded from there to Hukkok; and it reached to Zebulun on the south and touched Asher on the west, and to Judah at the Jordan toward the east.34The boundary ran west through Aznoth Tabor and came out at Hukkok. It touched Zebulun on the south, Asher on the west and the Jordan on the east.
35The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer and Hammath, Rakkath and Chinnereth,35The fortified towns were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth,
36and Adamah and Ramah and Hazor,36Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,
37and Kedesh and Edrei and En-hazor,37Kedesh, Edrei, En Hazor,
38and Yiron and Migdal-el, Horem and Beth-anath and Beth-shemesh; nineteen cities with their villages.38Iron, Migdal El, Horem, Beth Anath and Beth Shemesh. There were nineteen towns and their villages.
39This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali according to their families, the cities with their villages.39These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali, according to its clans.
40The seventh lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families.40The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan according to its clans.
41The territory of their inheritance was Zorah and Eshtaol and Ir-shemesh,41The territory of their inheritance included: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh,
42and Shaalabbin and Aijalon and Ithlah,42Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah,
43and Elon and Timnah and Ekron,43Elon, Timnah, Ekron,
44and Eltekeh and Gibbethon and Baalath,44Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath,
45and Jehud and Bene-berak and Gath-rimmon,45Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon,
46and Me-jarkon and Rakkon, with the territory over against Joppa.46Me Jarkon and Rakkon, with the area facing Joppa.
47The territory of the sons of Dan proceeded beyond them; for the sons of Dan went up and fought with Leshem and captured it. Then they struck it with the edge of the sword and possessed it and settled in it; and they called Leshem Dan after the name of Dan their father.47(When the territory of the Danites was lost to them, they went up and attacked Leshem, took it, put it to the sword and occupied it. They settled in Leshem and named it Dan after their ancestor.)
48This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages.48These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Dan, according to its clans.
49When they finished apportioning the land for inheritance by its borders, the sons of Israel gave an inheritance in their midst to Joshua the son of Nun.49When they had finished dividing the land into its allotted portions, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them,
50In accordance with the command of the LORD they gave him the city for which he asked, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. So he built the city and settled in it.50as the LORD had commanded. They gave him the town he asked for--Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim. And he built up the town and settled there.
51These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the households of the tribes of the sons of Israel distributed by lot in Shiloh before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting. So they finished dividing the land.51These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel assigned by lot at Shiloh in the presence of the LORD at the entrance to the tent of meeting. And so they finished dividing the land.
