For Solomon. O God, grant the king the ability to make just decisions! Grant the king's son the ability to make fair decisions! 1God, give your justice to the king and your righteousness to the king's son.
Then he will judge your people fairly, and your oppressed ones equitably. 2He will judge your people with righteousness and your afflicted ones with justice.
The mountains will bring news of peace to the people, and the hills will announce justice. 3May the mountains bring well-being to the people and the hills, righteousness.
He will defend the oppressed among the people; he will deliver the children of the poor and crush the oppressor. 4May he vindicate the afflicted among the people, help the poor, and crush the oppressor.
People will fear you as long as the sun and moon remain in the sky, for generation after generation. 5May they fear you while the sun endures and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
He will descend like rain on the mown grass, like showers that drench the earth. 6May the king be like rain that falls on the cut grass, like spring showers that water the earth.
During his days the godly will flourish; peace will prevail as long as the moon remains in the sky. 7May the righteous flourish in his days and well-being abound until the moon is no more.
May he rule from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth! 8May he rule from sea to sea and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.
Before him the coastlands will bow down, and his enemies will lick the dust. 9May desert tribes kneel before him and his enemies lick the dust.
The kings of Tarshish and the coastlands will offer gifts; the kings of Sheba and Seba will bring tribute. 10May the kings of Tarshish and the coasts and islands bring tribute, the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.
All kings will bow down to him; all nations will serve him. 11Let all kings bow in homage to him, all nations serve him.
For he will rescue the needy when they cry out for help, and the oppressed who have no defender. 12For he will rescue the poor who cry out and the afflicted who have no helper.
He will take pity on the poor and needy; the lives of the needy he will save. 13He will have pity on the poor and helpless and save the lives of the poor.
From harm and violence he will defend them; he will value their lives. 14He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious in his sight.
May he live! May they offer him gold from Sheba! May they continually pray for him! May they pronounce blessings on him all day long! 15May he live long! May gold from Sheba be given to him. May prayer be offered for him continually, and may he be blessed all day long.
May there be an abundance of grain in the earth; on the tops of the mountains may it sway! May its fruit trees flourish like the forests of Lebanon! May its crops be as abundant as the grass of the earth! 16May there be plenty of grain in the land; may it wave on the tops of the mountains. May its crops be like Lebanon. May people flourish in the cities like the grass of the field.
May his fame endure! May his dynasty last as long as the sun remains in the sky! May they use his name when they formulate their blessings! May all nations consider him to be favored by God! 17May his name endure forever; as long as the sun shines, may his fame increase. May all nations be blessed by him and call him blessed.
The LORD God, the God of Israel, deserves praise! He alone accomplishes amazing things! 18Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does wonders.
His glorious name deserves praise forevermore! May his majestic splendor fill the whole earth! We agree! We agree! 19Blessed be his glorious name forever; the whole earth is filled with his glory. Amen and amen.
