A prayer of David. Listen O LORD! Answer me! For I am oppressed and needy. 1Listen, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
Protect me, for I am loyal! O my God, deliver your servant, who trusts in you! 2Protect my life, for I am faithful. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I cry out to you all day long! 3Be gracious to me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
Make your servant glad, for to you, O Lord, I pray! 4Bring joy to your servant's life, because I appeal to you, Lord.
Certainly O Lord, you are kind and forgiving, and show great faithfulness to all who cry out to you. 5For you, Lord, are kind and ready to forgive, abounding in faithful love to all who call on you.
O LORD, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my plea for mercy! 6LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my plea for mercy.
In my time of trouble I cry out to you, for you will answer me. 7I call on you in the day of my distress, for you will answer me.
None can compare to you among the gods, O Lord! Your exploits are incomparable! 8Lord, there is no one like you among the gods, and there are no works like yours.
All the nations, whom you created, will come and worship you, O Lord. They will honor your name. 9All the nations you have made will come and bow down before you, Lord, and will honor your name.
For you are great and do amazing things. You alone are God. 10For you are great and perform wonders; you alone are God.
O LORD, teach me how you want me to live! Then I will obey your commands. Make me wholeheartedly committed to you! 11Teach me your way, LORD, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name.
O Lord, my God, I will give you thanks with my whole heart! I will honor your name continually! 12I will praise you with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor your name forever.
For you will extend your great loyal love to me, and will deliver my life from the depths of Sheol. 13For your faithful love for me is great, and you rescue my life from the depths of Sheol.
O God, arrogant men attack me; a gang of ruthless men, who do not respect you, seek my life. 14God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men intends to kill me. They do not let you guide them.
But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and merciful God. You are patient and demonstrate great loyal love and faithfulness. 15But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth.
Turn toward me and have mercy on me! Give your servant your strength! Deliver your slave! 16Turn to me and be gracious to me. Give your strength to your servant; save the son of your female servant.
Show me evidence of your favor! Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, for you, O LORD, will help me and comfort me. 17Show me a sign of your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped and comforted me.
