When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you occupy it and live in it,1When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you take possession of it and live in it,
you must take the first of all the ground's produce you harvest from the land the LORD your God is giving you, place it in a basket, and go to the place where he chooses to locate his name.2you must take some of the first of all the land's produce that you harvest from the land Yahweh your God is giving you and put it in a container. Then go to the place where the LORD your God chooses to have His name dwell.
You must go to the priest in office at that time and say to him, "I declare today to the LORD your God that I have come into the land that the LORD promised to our ancestors to give us."3When you come before the priest who is serving at that time, you must say to him, 'Today I acknowledge to the LORD your God that I have entered the land the LORD swore to our fathers to give us.'"
The priest will then take the basket from you and set it before the altar of the LORD your God.4Then the priest will take the container from your hand and place it before the altar of the LORD your God.
Then you must affirm before the LORD your God, "A wandering Aramean was my ancestor, and he went down to Egypt and lived there as a foreigner with a household few in number, but there he became a great, powerful, and numerous people.5You are to respond by saying in the presence of the LORD your God: My father was a wandering Aramean. He went down to Egypt with a few people and lived there. There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.
But the Egyptians mistreated and oppressed us, forcing us to do burdensome labor.6But the Egyptians mistreated and afflicted us, and forced us to do hard labor.
So we cried out to the LORD, the God of our ancestors, and he heard us and saw our humiliation, toil, and oppression.7So we called out to Yahweh, the God of our fathers, and the LORD heard our cry and saw our misery, hardship, and oppression.
Therefore the LORD brought us out of Egypt with tremendous strength and power, as well as with great awe-inspiring signs and wonders.8Then the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with terrifying power, and with signs and wonders.
Then he brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.9He led us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.
So now, look! I have brought the first of the ground's produce that you, LORD, have given me." Then you must set it down before the LORD your God and worship before him.10I have now brought the first of the land's produce that You, LORD, have given me. You will then place the container before the LORD your God and bow down to Him.
You will celebrate all the good things that the LORD your God has given you and your family, along with the Levites and the resident foreigners among you. 11You, the Levite, and the foreign resident among you will rejoice in all the good things the LORD your God has given you and your household."
When you finish tithing all your income in the third year (the year of tithing), you must give it to the Levites, the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows so that they may eat to their satisfaction in your villages.12When you have finished paying all the tenth of your produce in the third year, the year of the tenth, you are to give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
Then you shall say before the LORD your God, "I have removed the sacred offering from my house and given it to the Levites, the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows just as you have commanded me. I have not violated or forgotten your commandments.13Then you will say in the presence of the LORD your God: I have taken the consecrated portion out of my house; I have also given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all the commands You gave me. I have not violated or forgotten Your commands.
I have not eaten anything when I was in mourning, or removed any of it while ceremonially unclean, or offered any of it to the dead; I have obeyed you and have done everything you have commanded me.14I have not eaten any of it while in mourning, or removed any of it while unclean, or offered any of it for the dead. I have obeyed the LORD my God; I have done all You commanded me.
Look down from your holy dwelling place in heaven and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us, just as you promised our ancestors--a land flowing with milk and honey." 15Look down from Your holy dwelling, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel and the land You have given us as You swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey."
Today the LORD your God is commanding you to keep these statutes and ordinances, something you must do with all your heart and soul.16The LORD your God is commanding you this day to follow these statutes and ordinances. You must be careful to follow them with all your heart and all your soul.
Today you have declared the LORD to be your God, and that you will walk in his ways, keep his statutes, commandments, and ordinances, and obey him.17Today you have affirmed that the LORD is your God and that you will walk in His ways, keep His statutes, commands, and ordinances, and obey Him.
And today the LORD has declared you to be his special people (as he already promised you) so you may keep all his commandments.18And today the LORD has affirmed that you are His special people as He promised you, that you are to keep all His commands,
Then he will elevate you above all the nations he has made and you will receive praise, fame, and honor. You will be a people holy to the LORD your God, as he has said. 19that He will elevate you to praise, fame, and glory above all the nations He has made, and that you will be a holy people to the LORD your God as He promised."
