Psalm 76
NET Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew Living Translation
For the music director; to be accompanied by stringed instruments; a psalm of Asaph, a song. God has revealed himself in Judah; in Israel his reputation is great. 1God is honored in Judah; his name is great in Israel.
He lives in Salem; he dwells in Zion. 2Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home.
There he shattered the arrows, the shield, the sword, and the rest of the weapons of war. (Selah) 3There he has broken the fiery arrows of the enemy, the shields and swords and weapons of war. Interlude
You shine brightly and reveal your majesty, as you descend from the hills where you killed your prey. 4You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains.
The bravehearted were plundered; they "fell asleep." All the warriors were helpless. 5Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us.
At the sound of your battle cry, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse "fell asleep." 6At the blast of your breath, O God of Jacob, their horses and chariots lay still.
You are awesome! Yes, you! Who can withstand your intense anger? 7No wonder you are greatly feared! Who can stand before you when your anger explodes?
From heaven you announced what their punishment would be. The earth was afraid and silent 8From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before you.
when God arose to execute judgment, and to deliver all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah) 9You stand up to judge those who do evil, O God, and to rescue the oppressed of the earth. Interlude
Certainly your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; you reveal your anger in full measure. 10Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.
Make vows to the LORD your God and repay them! Let all those who surround him bring tribute to the awesome one! 11Make vows to the LORD your God, and keep them. Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One.
He humbles princes; the kings of the earth regard him as awesome. 12For he breaks the pride of princes, and the kings of the earth fear him.
