Then the LORD said to Moses:1The LORD spoke to Moses:
"Set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month.2"You are to set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month.
Place the ark of the covenant law in it and shield the ark with the curtain.3Put the ark of the testimony there and screen off the ark with the curtain.
Bring in the table and set out what belongs on it. Then bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.4Then bring in the table and lay out its arrangement; also bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.
Place the gold altar of incense in front of the ark of the covenant law and put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.5Place the gold altar for incense in front of the ark of the testimony. Put up the screen for the entrance to the tabernacle.
"Place the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting;6Position the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.
place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it.7Place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
Set up the courtyard around it and put the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard.8Assemble the surrounding courtyard and hang the screen for the gate of the courtyard.
"Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy.9"Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it along with all its furnishings so that it will be holy.
Then anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar, and it will be most holy.10Anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar so that it will be especially holy.
Anoint the basin and its stand and consecrate them.11Anoint the basin and its stand and consecrate it.
"Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.12"Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest.13Clothe Aaron with the holy garments, anoint him, and consecrate him, so that he can serve me as a priest.
Bring his sons and dress them in tunics.14Have his sons come forward and clothe them in tunics.
Anoint them just as you anointed their father, so they may serve me as priests. Their anointing will be to a priesthood that will continue throughout their generations."15Anoint them just as you anointed their father, so that they may also serve me as priests. Their anointing will serve to inaugurate a permanent priesthood for them throughout their generations."
Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded him.16Moses did everything just as the LORD had commanded him.
So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month in the second year.17The tabernacle was set up in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month.
When Moses set up the tabernacle, he put the bases in place, erected the frames, inserted the crossbars and set up the posts.18Moses set up the tabernacle: He laid its bases, positioned its supports, inserted its crossbars, and set up its pillars.
Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering over the tent, as the LORD commanded him.19Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He took the tablets of the covenant law and placed them in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it.20Moses took the testimony and placed it in the ark, and attached the poles to the ark. He set the mercy seat on top of the ark.
Then he brought the ark into the tabernacle and hung the shielding curtain and shielded the ark of the covenant law, as the LORD commanded him.21He brought the ark into the tabernacle, put up the curtain for the screen, and screened off the ark of the testimony, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Moses placed the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle outside the curtain22Moses placed the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the curtain.
and set out the bread on it before the LORD, as the LORD commanded him.23He arranged the bread on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle24He put the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle
and set up the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD commanded him.25and set up the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Moses placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain26Moses installed the gold altar in the tent of meeting, in front of the curtain,
and burned fragrant incense on it, as the LORD commanded him.27and burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Then he put up the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.28He put up the screen at the entrance to the tabernacle.
He set the altar of burnt offering near the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered on it burnt offerings and grain offerings, as the LORD commanded him.29He placed the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered the burnt offering and the grain offering on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He placed the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing,30He set the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing.
and Moses and Aaron and his sons used it to wash their hands and feet.31Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet from it.
They washed whenever they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar, as the LORD commanded Moses.32They washed whenever they came to the tent of meeting and approached the altar, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.33Next Moses set up the surrounding courtyard for the tabernacle and the altar and hung a screen for the gate of the courtyard. So Moses finished the work.
Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.34The cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.35Moses was unable to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud rested on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out;36The Israelites set out whenever the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle throughout all the stages of their journey.
but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out--until the day it lifted.37If the cloud was not taken up, they did not set out until the day it was taken up.
So the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.38For the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and there was a fire inside the cloud by night, visible to the entire house of Israel throughout all the stages of their journey.
